Royal Inn

It’s a convenient location for everyday needs, and you can stay as long as you need, pay, and go without drawing attention. The rooms and service are okayish, with the basic charm of a motel that’s just there to put you up temporarily. Don’t expect Hilton, Motel 6, or another premium-service experience. The residents and other people around are what you’d expect. If you want somewhere low-key and inconspicuous, this place works.

The one bright spot was the sweet African American lady who worked there. She was kind and willing to help. The next morning, though, the manager only offered us a discount, and the police came but didn’t seem to care about talking with us. We’d paid for a room, but left after two and a half hours because it was so infested with roaches. They crawled over the bed and tables, and one came out as soon as the door opened. The key card never worked, so we had to go to the office several times and staff had to let us in twice. We checked in at 12:30 am and left at 3:00. When we asked the office worker for another room, he said he couldn’t move us because he didn’t want to lose his job, and suggested we stick it out until tomorrow so they could look into it. The roaches were too bad to sleep through. This place loses good people. I’d recommend this trash to no one. They’re good at taking people’s money, and that’s about it. I’d give it no stars, but the site required a rating, so I gave it one.

The main issue was housekeeping. I had to clean every room I stayed in each day, and towels weren’t even supposed to be brought to us. When I got back from work and told the woman I needed one, she said housekeeping had gone for the day. She didn’t offer a towel or seem to care. That felt like poor service and a lack of concern for the residents. I didn’t expect much because of the neighborhood and low prices, but every room had problems. When the fridge worked, the microwave didn’t. I was definitely ready to get away from there.

The rooms are nasty and have roaches, even if the price is cheap. The manager kicks people out based on lies, in my view, and is costing the company money. People I know call it the royal Dump, and the manager even calls it a dump. Anyone who has stayed there, even for just a couple of nights, should call code in. The owner already lost the place right beside the royal Dump. He needs employees who will try to make it a better place for people. Good luck to anyone deciding to stay there.
