La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Dallas North Central

I was disappointed, especially after paying $126. As I packed to leave early, I saw two cockroaches in the bathroom and immediately reported them at the desk. The bathtub was peeling and visibly dirty, and a quick shower left water all over the bathroom floor, making it slippery and hard to deal with. The elevators weren't working. I was in an Accessible Room on the 4th floor, so this was especially concerning for anyone relying on accessibility accommodations, particularly when the hotel is full. I feel bad giving one star and don't usually leave negative reviews. The front desk staff member I spoke with was kind and helpful, and I appreciate that she noted my concerns. The condition of the hotel itself, though, wasn't acceptable. I hope management addresses the cleanliness and maintenance problems.

The price was good value, and the location is handy for the interstate, though the surrounding area may not be the best. Staff were friendly, but I asked twice for tissues and never got any, so I had to use a stack of napkins from the coffee bar. The facility needs updating.

We found three roaches in the room and told the front desk woman at 10 am. She said she could note on the account that we'd move when we got back from our event. But when we returned, the front desk man said we couldn't move because it had to be done before 11 and there were no rooms left. We'd asked for the same kind of room since we'd paid $40 more per night for a king. They said they could move us to a twin or full room because they were fully booked and we hadn't moved by 11. We said we'd take that room if they refunded the $40 difference we'd paid for the king, since moving was due to their roaches, not our fault. They said they couldn't do that because we didn't move by 11. We'd come down at 10 to be moved, and the woman had said it was fine to move after we got back from our event. Poor management, poor customer service, and poor pest control. I'd never recommend this place and strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

The room was prepaid through my employer, but the receptionist still demanded a credit card and said I’d be charged. I had to explain it was pre-authorized. After several minutes at her computer, she handed me a receipt; when I asked whether she’d found the authorization, she just said “yes.” No explanation or apology. She seemed annoyed from the moment I arrived from the airport, with no smile or warmth. The room was grimy too: stained sheets and carpet, mildew and dirt in the tub, and a mini fridge and microwave awkwardly shoved into a closet by the bathroom. Nearly every door was dented or scuffed. I was on the 5th floor, where the only working elevator beeped every second all night like an EKG. The TV remote didn’t work, and the room phone had no quick way to call the front desk. Around the property, the pool was filthy and chaotic, the gym had no weights, most ice machines were broken, and the elevator by reception was out of order. People I took to be vagrants were continually riding the elevator, and the halls smelled strongly of marijuana. On checkout morning, someone knocked at 10 even though checkout was 11 and asked if I was staying. I said I’d be out by 10:30 after confirming the time. At least the bed was comfortable and I slept well, and some other staff were polite. The best part was leaving. This place needs a lot of renovation, and it doesn’t look like any is happening. It might work as a shelter, but it shouldn’t be taking paying guests. Extremely disappointing.
