I paid $119 for a so-called king room that seemed more like a queen, then lasted just four hours before leaving. The room wasn’t clean, the air didn’t work, the tub was filthy, and the dressers were missing drawers. I’d asked for a non-smoking room but was charged for smoking. The front-desk woman said people request non-smoking and smoke in the rooms anyway. Seriously? The area is bad, and the woman working check-in didn’t know how to run a hotel front desk. The night-shift employee, a bald-headed guy, was rude and I had to correct him. I tried to stick it out so I wouldn’t waste my money, but no. I absolutely wouldn’t recommend this place.

It’s an outdated place, but for the price the hotel was decent. The bedding was clean and the pillows comfortable, and there’s a liquor store nearby. I’d stay again, though I felt rushed at checkout. The woman called our room to say we needed to leave and hung up while we were already packing. Then she knocked while we were getting ready to go. The guy working nights was more patient, and she could work on her communication and people skills.

For a solo traveler, I felt very safe here. The room was clean and nice, and had enough space for one person. It was quiet too, apart from the occasional fast car on the road, which was barely noticeable. Downtown Dallas is the location, with the highway directly across the street, which worked perfectly for me. It’s an inn, so there are about eight steps up to the second floor. The stay was affordable and efficient, with heat and complimentary shampoo and bar soap. I’ll definitely come again. My only con was that there wasn’t an iron or ironing board.

The breakfast could use improvement. It was just Nutrigrain bars, and coffee from a very small maker served in Dixie cups. Still, the stay was more straightforward than I expected, and I’d return. I missed the parking lot turn twice, and the one-way street meant a longer detour than expected. The highway nearby made things a little noisy. The room was okay, though there was no bedside phone to call the front desk, and surprisingly, no Bible in the drawer.

The rooms were clean and the price was good, which had me ready to leave a positive review. Then I saw the manager berating customers for no reason beyond apparently having a bad day. That behavior was inappropriate and unacceptable, and the staff’s conduct makes me strongly recommend staying elsewhere. If zero stars were an option, I’d choose it. 😔
