Super 8 Dalton/Convention Center Area

I contacted hotel management, regional representatives, and the BBB after learning that someone had been registered as me, using my email address. The manager apologized but didn’t really address the issue, saying only that an employee had made an oversight. I haven’t seen any credit card charges so far, but I’m still keeping an eye on things. I didn’t have to show a driver’s license at the front desk, unlike at other U.S. hotels, including Wyndham, supposedly. Be careful if you come across Super 8 by Wyndham Dalton/Convention Center while searching. This reflects on Wyndham too, since its name is on the hotel. I wouldn’t stay here unless you’re comfortable with your ID being compromised.

After 11 hours on the road with our two dogs, we were glad to find a motel that allowed pets. Then we got to the room and the floors were so filthy that I wiped them down with washcloths before I felt okay letting the dogs walk on them. The cloth in the photo shows what came up with just water. We paid $125 to sleep in a room I had to clean myself. What a waste. I’ll never go back, and I wouldn’t stay here.

The staff were friendly, and it was handy having our rooms on the ground floor next to each other, as requested. Parking was only a few feet away, which made getting our luggage in easy. There were cameras in the lot, and housekeeping waited until we’d left before trying to enter. The room had a lot of problems: two bugs, stained carpet, scratches in the tub, a drain stopper that didn’t work, and a bathroom door that wouldn’t close all the way. The towels were worn and there weren’t many. We couldn’t find free ice. Light from outside came through the curtain edges so brightly it felt like morning all night. It was a little noisy morning and evening, though quiet in the middle of the night. Breakfast ended at 9, and everything had been cleared away before we arrived. The place also felt run down and dirty.

The clerk was great, and the weekend price was reasonable. My room looked nice, but housekeeping needs to do better. There were boot prints in the bathroom, the vanity and mirror were dirty, and one of the bed sheets had a hole. I also found a coin and prescription medicine on the floor.
