The Speckled Trout Outpost

We were very happy with our night at Brinkwaters. The room and bathroom were super clean, and the bed and bedding were really comfortable. It was quiet too, we never heard anyone in the hallway. The location is handy for all the shops in Damascus. They also provided a coffee pot, coffee and condiments, plus a mini fridge. Would definitely recommend.

The bathroom in our Day Tripper room was bright and clean, with just-right water pressure. The room was well laid out and tidy, and it’s within easy walking distance of shops and other spots around town. The kids loft, which we didn’t use, is reached by a metal ladder and looks like a nice sleeping nook for children. I’d recommend staying here whether you’re visiting or just passing through. A luggage rack would be useful, and the window shade let in light, so curtains or a different shade would help.

The modern, new furnishings and location were great. We did have a problem with noise through the open ceilings: someone watching a movie elsewhere in the building could be heard loudly in our room and the hallway. The lofts are nice, though the pads are about as thick as a yoga mat, so you may want to bring sleeping pads for kids. There’s no staff on site, and texting support ends at 6 pm, which could make a late-night problem difficult. We didn’t run into one, thankfully, and customer service was helpful with our questions and check-in.

After a day hiking in Trail Town USA, this was a great spot to unwind and recharge. We could walk to restaurants, shops, and the VA Creeper Trail, and the location couldn’t have suited us better. Speckled Trout Outpost had thoughtful amenities that made us feel at home, with decor that mixes retro character and modern comfort.
