Holiday Inn Express Dandridge by IHG

The king suite had plenty of space, and the fireplace was a welcome surprise that kept the room cozy. The bed and pillows were comfortable, and I liked having a patio out back. The breakfast stayed fresh and well stocked. The setting was great, tucked away from the main roads and interstate. Every staff member I encountered, from check-in through check-out, was friendly, courteous, helpful, and just great to be around. Thanks to the whole team for a wonderful stay.

The employees were all kind and helpful, and the hotel was clean, though it could use some TLC. There was room to move my wheelchair around, but the beds were too high for an easy transfer. The toilet also lacked space beside it for a wheelchair transfer. The room did have a roll-in shower with a seat and an accessible sink. The breakfast area was fairly accessible, but I couldn't fully open or reach to close the hot dish lids without risking a burn on my arm.

I reserved a king room through the IHG app yesterday, but arrived to find a room with two queens. Nobody told me about the change, not even at check-in. The front desk said flooding a few weeks earlier had wiped out the king rooms. King rooms were still listed as bookable in the app, so it looks like management didn't update the inventory. If they truly couldn't control availability, they could at least contact guests, or tell them before they walk into a different room. Taking payment without being transparent feels like a money grab.

I won't stay here again. The staff were nice, but the whole experience was frustrating. I booked a suite on the website and was moved to a double room because a pipe had burst the week before. I was looking forward to relaxing in a chair or on a couch and watching TV, but ended up watching from bed. I let that go since pipes do burst. The first room smelled like cigarettes; the second was basic but okay. I wanted to do laundry, but the desk had no detergent to buy, there were no nearby stores, and in the snow I didn't want to drive 15-20 minutes back to Walmart. They also needed coins, which they didn't have. The helpful front desk guy managed to find about $6 worth, so I ended up using shampoo on my clothes. At least they came out clean. The shower drained slower than molasses in winter, nearly flooding the bathroom. At 11 p.m. I was ready to shower and go to bed, even if it flooded. Snacks and food to heat up were hard to find, too. The vending machine had candy, while the water and soda machine took only coins. Who carries cash around these days? There was a small shop with Cheese Its, water, and Pure Life water.
