Rodeway Inn & Suites Fll Airport - Cruise Port

The pool was nice and had plenty of loungers, but we won’t be coming back. We chose the hotel for its price and free shuttles, yet when I called from the airport I was sent to voicemail and ended up paying $50 for a taxi. Check-in meant a long line to speak through a glass window. We had two rooms and were offered early check-in for another $30; after I complained about the shuttle, the woman gave us complimentary check-in. The rooms were large, clean, and had good AC. We ate at the restaurant twice because there wasn’t anything else around. The menu was decent, though a little pricey for pub food, and the drinks were fine. Happy hour only applies at the bar, but that wasn’t clear on the menu, so we ordered from the happy-hour menu and were charged full price. Check your bill carefully. The tip is already included, but you have to scroll down on the payment machine to see everything. We added $60 cash to a bill that already had a $38 tip, and I suspect plenty of customers could do the same without realizing. Sodas cost $3.50, and the lobby is the better place to buy one because the freestanding machine doesn’t give change. Finding our room was a maze. We were in a 3000 room on the first floor, while 4000 rooms were on the second, and the numbering seemed to have no logic. Between the chaos and what felt like misleading charges, I’d rather pay more for somewhere calmer.

Susan, the manager, and Gerson, a new front desk associate, really came through for me around midnight. I’d spent 14 hours traveling back from Jamaica, where I’d been vacationing, and hackers had tried to access my bank account while I was in Negril, so the account was shut down. They made sure I could check in and stayed cheerful while helping me. As someone who’s worked long, tiring hours in the hotel business for over 40 years, I know how rare that kind of care is. The room was renovated and very nice, with a comfortable bed. The pool area was beautiful, and the property was especially quiet. For the small price I paid, I expected much less. This place is a gem, and I hope others get the chance to stay here.

Our car was safe, and everyone we dealt with was polite and respectful. The drive to Port Everglades was a reasonable distance, the price was fair, and our online reservation for long-term parking included the complimentary shuttle we needed for our seven-night Caribbean cruise. At the hotel, we got a parking permit for the dashboard and instructions for where to leave the car. The ride to the port was great, with a good driver. The return was a big disappointment. After collecting our luggage, we called to say we were ready to come back for the car and were put on hold for more than 12 minutes. When we finally reached an employee, we were told pickup would take an hour. We didn’t want to wait outside that long, so we paid $22 plus a tip for an Uber back to the hotel. It seemed there were more returning customers and problems than they were ready to handle. We’ve taken more than 50 cruises from Port Everglades and used long-term parking before, but this was our first time here. We were glad they had customers, but the return service didn’t meet our expectations.

Our cruise layover gave us an eight-hour stay, but we only got into the room at 11:40am even though we arrived at 9:56am for a 10am check-in. We still had to pay for the full stay. Once we had the room card, finding the room turned into a scavenger hunt because nobody gave us enough directions. The hotel felt disorganized, and the staff seemed somewhat unprofessional. The lobby was full of people waiting for help. They do offer a shuttle to and from the cruise ship, but the announcer was extremely pushy. This was frustrating and chaotic, all at our expense.
