Travelers Inn by OYO Beaver, Hwy 19

I arrived at midnight in October after booking through Expedia, which said the front desk was staffed 24/7. The lobby lights were on, but the door was locked and nobody was there. Two phone numbers were posted outside. The hotel's general number went to voicemail, and a woman answered the other one sounding like she'd just been woken. I said I was outside trying to check in, and she asked me to wait a couple minutes before the call disconnected. I waited outside for about half an hour, then went to my car to get out of the cold. Expedia couldn't reach the hotel either, whether to help me check in or cancel and refund. They offered to try again in the morning to get the refund approved. I slept in my car in the parking lot for a few hours and then continued my road trip. The next morning Expedia emailed that the hotel refused to refund me.

We lasted 10 minutes and left. There was blood on the walls, German cockroaches, old trash, no towels or toilet paper, a toilet seat held together with tape, a broken bed, and a moldy smell. The smoke alarm wasn't even in the room. It was disgusting enough that we called the health department. When I explained why we were leaving, the two people at the desk offered to move us to another room, but didn't apologize. It seemed like they already knew this room was bad. The woman specifically said the room they wanted to give us “did not have roaches.” She also claimed the red marks on the door were “crayon.” One might have been, but the larger mark didn't look like crayon to me. They refused to refund us.

The beds were comfortable, the lighting was good, and the surroundings were peaceful. The location was convenient, with easy access to nearby attractions and local transport, and the price was very reasonable. The rooms, washrooms, and shared areas were spotless and well maintained. Staff were welcoming, polite, and ready to help. A great budget stay, and I'd definitely recommend it and come back.

The staff were very helpful, and the room was clean and smelled like fresh flowers. I came with my girlfriend to visit her mother and was really impressed. I'd reserved a queen, but they upgraded me to a king at no extra charge. I'll definitely stay at Travelers Inn again on my way home. Thank you.
