Glo Motel

The second room was a huge improvement, though a mouse kept getting into the trash even after I tied it up, so I eventually left the bin outside my door. I was grateful to be moved, but the staff had denied my complaints at first, and I felt disappointed with how they treated me. I had nowhere else to stay and had paid for the whole week upfront, so I got the impression they thought I was a prostitute or something. The first room was awful: the TV wasn't connected, its box was still there, the sink leaked, something odd was growing on the ceiling, and the chair had crusty food on it. When I checked in and paid by debit card, the guy didn't want me to cross out the tip line on the receipt. The next day I showed the office photos of the room, and they gave me a key to another room, saying I could pick between the two. I had to stay the week.

The carpet turns your feet black within minutes if you walk barefoot, and there are baby roaches in the microwave. The fridge only freezes its top section, the TV remote doesn't work, and the heater is incredibly loud. The door also looks like police forced it in with a ram. I accidentally locked my key inside and had to ask the owner to let me back in. He acted as if my service dog might attack him, and treated me like I was a fugitive. I'm here because of an emergency with my living situation. It's a roof over our heads, and the AC and heat unit seems to work. It's better than living in my truck with my dog, since I don't want him to die while I'm at work for 10 hours a day. But $300 for a week is way too much for this place.

I keep watching for bed bugs, and whenever I see one, I put it in the toilet. I'm only still in this room because someone gave it to me when I was homeless, so I guess I'll stay awake and keep watching.

The sheets were covered in stains, and neither the shower nor the tub worked, so I couldn't even wash up. The room looked unclean when I checked in, though it smelled very strongly of some kind of cleaner.
