Rose Motel

The rooms were clean and handy for where my wife was working, and the staff were accommodating for the most part. We were out of state and had to stay there because we needed a room. People were being charged different prices for the same kind of room, and the man there would go into rooms while guests were out, not just to change towels. Otherwise, we would have chosen somewhere else.

On 4/19/2022, I added that the motel had new owners. Local residents had told me it wasn't a good place to stay anymore. I'd drive to Seward,NE, 25 miles South of David City, where there are nice motels along I-80. Coming from the south, Columbus,NE is 25 miles NW of David City, and I'd suggest going there too. Pass this motel by. When I first stayed, the room was spotless, the bed was comfortable, and there were plenty of towels. The downside was checking out a day early after giving 24 hours' notice. That requirement hadn't been stated, but I only got a partial refund because the owner said the taxes had already been paid and he was losing money on my early departure.

Room 20 is one to skip, since the hot water doesn't work. Room 23 has ALOT of cats, and the thin walls mean you may hear a neighbor's TV. The old man is KNOWN to do daytime room checks and just burst through the door. The room door doesn't really lock, though as a fearless traveler I wasn't bothered by that. I'd still suggest any single traveler carry a "mystery-mousekatool" (IYKYK!). This is little hicktown nebraska, off a two-lane highway, and pretty much the only place to stay in town unless you can book the airbnb weeks or months ahead. I travel nurse and stayed for my 13-week assignment. I'm picky about where I stay, but didn't see a single bedbug, roach, or mouse. I checked in and out during the assignment and definitely found some rooms I liked better.

We had a clean room and bathroom, with a king-size bed, coffee maker, fridge, and microwave. They even let us park our bobtailing Peterbilt semi on the property. We first called about availability and got a room that same night while in town for a friend's viewing and funeral. We then decided to stay another night and were accommodated quickly and efficiently. The owners are so sweet and kind. Fantastic little hotel. We'll definitely stay here on our next visit to David City. 😀
