Best Western Elkhart Inn & Suites

The pool area was chilly in winter, and I couldn't stay in it for more than 30 minutes. The location is off the highway, squeezed between other hotels and behind a gas station, with no real view. Still, for the price it wasn't too bad. We were greeted right away and the staff were helpful. Our room was clean, though it had visible cosmetic damage that needs repair. The pillows seemed to have no stuffing, so I slept poorly and woke up with a sore neck.

We won't stay at this location again. The elevator was extremely slow, and we had a terrible night because both the air conditioner and mini fridge were noisy. Cleaning was mediocre at best: the bathroom mirror was smeared, the shower curtain had early mildew at the bottom, and the shower barely had more than a sprinkle of water. The soap dispensers were sitting on the bathtub edge instead of mounted on the wall.

Casey checked us in at 2:30am and was especially helpful, friendly, and gracious. The whole front desk staff was great. Our room was really nice and clean, and the price was super cheap. This was definitely the nicest BW we've stayed at, even nicer than some BWPs we've visited. I highly recommend it!

Our shower wouldn't drain, and after a quick 30-minute shower the water had risen up my legs. I left early, expecting no refund or help, but an extra balance of $155 appeared even though I'd prepaid for 3 nights. The hallways smelled unpleasant, and we were threatened with being kicked out without a refund despite only using the hotel to sleep. It felt more like prison than an enjoyable trip, and the employees acted as if we were inconveniencing them just by staying there. I have never felt so unwelcome at a hotel, and we travel often for sports. Before arriving, I called to change our dates because illness kept us from leaving home as planned. We weren't canceling, just changing the check-in day, but they refused. They took my number for a manager to call about it, and no one ever called back. If the hotel doesn't want teams visiting, it shouldn't agree to host them.
