Super 8 by Wyndham Vandalia/Dayton Intl Airport

The staff were welcoming and got us checked in without trouble. That was the one bright spot, and probably what keeps this place going. We found several cockroaches in the bed and bathroom. When we called about them, we were told to kill them ourselves. The sheets, mattress, and pillows were stained and yellow, though staff said the marks were normal and the sheets were clean. The blankets had cigarette burns, the tub was brown-stained, and the floor and fridge were dirty. When another cockroach showed up in the bed, we left. We’d already been driving for 26 hours and just wanted to shower, sleep, and get back on the road. Instead, our five-hour stay was ruined and felt like a waste of money. We won’t go to Super 8 again.

Skip this dump. There were only about four other guests, and they seemed to live there. The room smelled like mold or something worse, and the shower barely worked. I-75 is only about 200 yards away, so there was plenty of road noise. Breakfast ended at 9, but there was hardly anything on offer, nothing I wanted, and no coffee at 8:30 a.m. Keep driving, or sleep in your car.

For a one-night booking, this was a good choice. The room opened to the outdoors, which I loved for the extra privacy. It looked a little dated, but wasn’t bad. The bed was comfortable enough, the pillows were just right, the AC worked, and the shower stayed hot for a long time. The faucet never got cold, though that didn’t bother me much. Booking was quick and easy, and the front desk was really friendly. I also liked that they asked what kind of vehicle I drove so they’d know who and what was coming in and out.

Stacy was so kind and accommodating when we arrived in the middle of a “when everything goes wrong” kind of situation. She made our month. Her helpful recommendations and clear communication made the stay great. The rooms were clean and quiet, and the hospitality bar was immaculate. I’d gladly stay again and recommend it.
