El Caribe Resort & Conference Center

The room was clean and nice, with a balcony looking out over the Atlantic. It had a comfortable king bed with plenty of pillows and a fully equipped little kitchen: oven, stove, microwave, coffee pot, toaster, and full-size fridge and freezer. Staff were very friendly and let me check in about an hour early since the room had already been cleaned. The outside of the rooms is a little dated and could use some TLC, though that’s expected with everything exposed to salt air. There were two nice pools and two separate beach access points. The location was fine, a short drive from main Street and far enough away to avoid a lot of traffic right out front. Breakfast was decent, too.

The friendly, welcoming staff were a bright spot, and the ocean view really takes your breath away when you enter the room. Falling asleep to the waves was peaceful, easily the best part of my stay at El Caribe Hotel & Conference Center. The place has a lot of potential, but it needs serious updates and better housekeeping. The bathroom was so dingy that neither my husband nor I felt comfortable showering. The toilet ran all night and made it hard to relax, and the sheets were dirty. We usually bring our own sheets, so that part wasn’t a huge inconvenience for us personally, but it was still unacceptable and pretty gross. Incredible views and location, but the hotel’s condition and cleanliness took away from the experience. Great spot, not a great stay.

Front desk service was good, and Lisa at the front desk was super awesome and helpful, the best thing the hotel has. When I checked out today on 5/4/26, the guy at the desk made me laugh, which God knows I needed that morning. But room service only brought fresh towels and didn’t remake the beds. The pictures are deceiving, the rooms need a major update, doors wouldn’t open or close properly, and the bathrooms were rusty. All the ACs leaked onto the balcony. The beds were comfortable, but every pillow cover and sheet had at least one stain. That’s why I’m giving two stars, and I most likely won’t stay again. I wish I’d taken pictures to show people reading this.

The only good thing was the beach view from our balcony. We went for our anniversary weekend after seeing the pictures, but the stay was terrible and I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. The tub had mold, there were rust stains all over the towels and blankets, and the room didn’t seem clean. At night the people next door were extremely loud, running in the halls, banging, yelling, and playing music early in the morning. It sounded like a party and kept getting louder. Doors were very hard to close, so we heard them slamming all night. In the morning I called the front office, and the lady said, “well that’s kinda what happens when you stay in a hotel”. She did say they’d been told to quiet down a little at night, but the noise continued until midnight. That response was concerning, people are paying to stay here. If I could give no stars, I would. Save your money.
