Daytona Beach Resort

The balcony view from Condo 805 was beautiful, and the unit was clean, comfortable, and stocked with the essentials. The location is convenient for restaurants, shopping, beach access, and special events. I hadn’t visited the resort in a while, so it was a pleasant surprise to see the pools open and feel like things are moving in a good direction. It was a wonderful stay, and I’m looking forward to coming back.

Being on the beach was the only highlight. The beach itself was beautiful. The condo we rented through Airbnb was clean and comfortable, but the facility was awful. It’s already outdated, and the earlier storm damage still seems unrepaired, with no visible progress. The pools were full of black and green sludge, the hallways were dark, and the carpet filthy. Rain came through into the main lobby, windows were boarded up, and there wasn’t adequate beach access. Every conference room was empty or padlocked. The air smelled moldy and musty, and the right side of the property truly looked abandoned. In my opinion, the place should be condemned and demolished. I can’t believe people are still allowed to rent rooms there. I wouldn’t recommend it, and I don’t understand how condo owners can rent to the public when the building looks this way.

The first three days there was no hot water. That was fixed on the third day, but then three of the four elevators stopped working. Nothing complimentary was available as advertised, all the pools were closed, and the people at the front desk were extremely rude. My grandson asked for the front desk phone number, and the man there seemed ready to fight. I still don’t understand why he was so offended by a simple question, or why he threatened to call the police on my grandson. There were roaches on the balcony, and one about the size of a big toe got into the bathtub and crawled around. There was no beach access from the building because it was blocked.

We’ve come here for years and always loved it, but this was the worst stay ever and our last at DBR. The place feels like an abandoned hotel: musty, smelly, and depressing. The room itself was just okay, with dirty-looking bath rugs and old towels. Our balcony in Rm 712 looked down on pools that were just dirty green puddles. There were no pools or amenities available, and no beach access. To reach the beach, we had to walk down the block carrying everything we needed, including chairs, coolers, and surfing boards. The host, Renata, didn’t tell us there would be no pools, amenities, or beach access until after we booked. A little honesty and warning would have helped. The advertising was false. This shouldn’t be called a resort anymore, and I don’t know how the condo and resort owners can get away with misleading people and ruining family vacations. Don’t stay here if you don’t want to be disappointed.
