Ocean Walk Resort

The location is hard to beat: you're right on the boardwalk, with shops and restaurants nearby and no need to drive if you don't want to. The bandshell is just outside and has free Saturday night concerts. There's entertainment indoors too, and something poolside every day, plus free popsicles daily. There are two big outdoor pools, two large outdoor hot tubs, a lazy river, and an indoor pool. The tiki bar serves food and wonderful virgin drinks, and I'm sure the regular ones are great too. The beach was clean, the staff were fantastic, and the amenities were outstanding. The rooms are nice and have gorgeous ocean views. Definitely recommend it. The smoking section is by the tiki bar, if that's relevant to you.

There are plenty of things to do at the resort, including shops you can walk to, and it's an easy walk down to the beach. Two outdoor pools, two indoor pools, a slide in one of them, a small lazy river that's mostly full of kids, a few hot tubs, and a little poolside bar. The stay was fun, but parking was the problem. If your unit has two bedrooms or fewer, you can only park one car in their lot. Extra cars have to go off site, and the garage across the street costs $30 a day plus fees. For two days and 17 hours we paid $105. I think the resort should work with the garage to offer guests or condo owners a discount. Otherwise, the only option may be to park far away and carry your bags over, though I'm not sure there was cheaper parking anywhere.

We were very disappointed with our stay at Club Wyndham Ocean Walk. Food choices at the resort were limited, and the bistro let us down. Worse, food we ordered was stolen from outside our room within minutes of delivery. The repeated timeshare calls, pitches, and efforts to get owners into more presentations are another reason I would strongly recommend avoiding the place. On arrival the resort felt worn out and poorly managed. No one was available to help with luggage, and there were no carts, so I had to make one trip at a time carrying everything up with my family. Our room had crumbs and seeds across the carpet and didn't feel hygienic. The balcony slider wouldn't lock. The manager was nice and sent someone to fix it, but afterward it wouldn't open, so we couldn't use the balcony. They tried vacuuming, but the room still didn't feel clean or comfortable. To me, this felt like an old, run-down hotel that hasn't been maintained properly, and not a great place for families or kids.

Our one-bedroom oceanfront room had everything needed for cooking and eating, including silverware, glasses, and a knife block. We used the pullout bed, and found spare bedding in the closet. The bedroom TV didn't work, but someone came to help as soon as we asked. The carpet felt gross, so I kept my shoes on. The old-fashioned curtain wouldn't close all the way, which was annoying. Rooms in the north tower are privately owned, timeshare maybe, and the elevators were fairly quick though we sometimes had to wait. We liked the easy beach access, poolside music and entertainment, and Saturday movie night in the indoor pool. The outdoor pools and lazy river were really cold, so we mostly used the southside indoor pool, which smelled strongly of chemicals and had foam from a pool toy floating in it. The north tower indoor pool by the fitness center was freezing and unused. The fourth floor was completely empty, with no shops. You need to get up early to reserve a lounge chair outside, otherwise you may not get one all day, and there's nowhere to put your things. Still, it was a good experience overall, and we'd return.
