Days Inn Decatur TX

We paid $117.76 for a suite with two king beds and a couch, but were given a room with two queen beds instead. The room (#314) smelled of smoke and wasn't very clean, especially the very dirty bathroom floor. The beds themselves were good and clean. We stayed at the Days Inn in Decatur, Texas on May 30, 2015. I tried to talk with the manager the next morning and was told he'd be in later that day. I called twice that day and again the next morning; each time I was told he'd call me. He never did. I feel we got a bad deal, and the manager has made no effort to fix it. We're owed the price difference between the suite and a standard room.

The staff were a little reserved but respectful, and I'd definitely return. I found the large single room very nice for the price, and everything was working during my stay. There's a small fitness room and a heated indoor pool. The rate at the time was a very good bargain. My two complaints: the vending machines were nearly empty, and the Internet was slow off and on.

There were dead bugs in the hallways, stairwell, and our room when we checked in. The toilet was split down the middle, with the crack visible through to the water in the bowl. The carpets were so dirty that walking on them left our feet dirty. The whole hotel felt run down and mismanaged. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone with small children who might crawl on the floor and put things in their mouths.

The rooms felt roomy and were clean, but checking in was a little awkward since the desk clerk never smiled. I called to reserve first and was quoted $15 more than the website, so I booked online instead. The router also wasn't working. The front desk sent me to Ovation, and after a long hold they couldn't get it fixed. We'll see how that goes.
