Fairfield by Marriott Inn & Suites Deerfield Beach Boca Raton

I usually care most about a clean place, a comfortable bed, and a bathroom that works. This hotel got the first two right, but the bathroom in room 226 would likely make me stay somewhere else next time unless the plumbing and fixtures are fixed. The bedroom felt fresh and updated, and the hotel was very clean and seemed recently renovated. Check-in and checkout were smooth; I didn't interact much with staff otherwise and didn't try breakfast. The old tub and hardware seemed like a shortcut compared with updating the rest of the room. The shower spray was awful, hot water took 15 minutes, the faucet handle felt loose enough to pull out of the wall, and the toilet struggled to flush even liquid a few times. A reliable bathroom and a good shower are dealbreakers for me.

The manager was nice and helpful, and the rooms were quite large. There’s a pool and a gym, though the pool could use better upkeep and they seemed to run out of pool towels all the time. One woman at the front desk should work on her attitude, and hospitality may not be the right job for her.

The hotel and its location are nice, and the rooms were fine once the AC was on. Before that, they had a somewhat humid smell. Breakfast was standard, but the employee running it seemed to start packing up about 10 minutes before closing. By 8:40, things like eggs were already gone and hadn't been replaced. If breakfast ends at 9, food can come away at 9. I wouldn't expect a new tray at 8:59, but 8:40 is early.

Devunte really kept our spirits up when the hotel kept having things break or need repairs. Our first room smelled like old dog and balls, excuse my grammar, and we were overwhelmed and fussy, but he kept accommodating us. He upgraded our room and even came upstairs with utensils and towels. Cameron was sweet too; Devunte had him inspect the room, and by morning everything was fine. We were switched to a much nicer room, and I'll stay here again.
