I came for my sister’s wedding and was disappointed at pretty much every turn. The “free breakfast” amounted to a couple of muffins and coffee. The first night, the hot water in our rooms didn’t work. After 10 pm they shut the front door without putting up a sign, so I couldn’t figure out how to get back in and had to bang on it to reach my room. For $300+ a night, I expected far better.

Room 143 Cora Carlisle, on the second floor, was lovely, spacious, comfortable, quiet, and climate-controlled. The bed was comfortable, there was plenty of hot water, and the bath towels were huge. We appreciated the carafe of ice water and Biscoff cookies in the room. The small 1884 inn sits by the Deerfield Academy grounds among the Historic Deerfield buildings, with lots of charming details. There’s an elevator or stairs to the second floor, a bookshelf of books, and 24-hour Keurig coffee and tea service in the hallway, plus a business center with a computer and printer. Afternoon Tea runs from 2:30 - 5:00 pm, with cookies and small dessert bars for hotel guests, or visitors can pay a fee. Champney's margarita flight was quite good and big enough to share. The continental breakfast was included, with a muffin, sliced melon, plain yogurt, and coffee, though there wasn’t much food out, the coffee was a bit watery, and I’d have liked more kinds of fruit than cantaloupe and green melon, plus a hard-boiled egg. The porch chairs were lovely for sitting outside, and there’s a lobby sitting area with games and a puzzle. Parking is in front of the hotel. The faucet and shower tap metal had some discoloration where the gold tone had worn off, but everything worked. The string for lowering the blinds by the toilet was missing, and an extra housekeeping gratuity was added to the bill. There was a slight musty smell downstairs that made me cough, though the rooms were fine. Deerfield was a charming historic hotel, and I’d stay again and come Wednesday - Saturday to visit historic Deerfield buildings.

The rooms were spotless, really, so, so clean. The Inn Keeper did a great job explaining what the inn offers, including the reminder not to lose your keys. We came for a quick weekend overnight with my daughter, planning to hike at Sugarloaf, visit yankee candle, Treetop beer, the Butterfly conservatory, and pumpkins. It was busy, but still pleasantly quiet. There’s hot coffee available in the hallways 24/7. Just know what kind of place this is before you book: it’s an INN, full of charm, charm, charm. Such a relaxing place to stay.

The bedroom was nicely furnished and made for a relaxing visit. It’s a lovely historic Inn and Restaurant, with comfortable common rooms full of antique furniture and tea service. The dining room was well furnished, and the menu was top class.

The building is beautiful, and our room was cozy. Everything was clean and the staff made us feel welcome when I visited with my husband and our one-year-old daughter. I loved having cold water in the room and a coffee station next to our door. We had dinner and breakfast at the inn’s wonderful restaurant, and while our daughter napped, we enjoyed a couple of drinks at the lovely bar. Dinner was delicious. I definitely recommend the hotel and restaurant, and can’t wait to come back.
