Best Western Crossroads Inn

We found the room quiet and clean, and the lobby was tidy as well. The pet-friendly rooms are on the first floor facing west, and all have two double beds. The woman who checked us in on 12/21/25 was very friendly. After a road trip to Dallas and back to Tampa with so many disappointing breakfasts, this one was really nice. The hotel covered everything we needed at a great price.

A good night's sleep was easy here, with long, quiet hallways and the hotel set back far enough from the road. Breakfast is served, and the Tesla 6kWh chargers for EVs are a nice extra. It’s handy for either the beach or I-10, with several fast food spots and a few sit-down restaurants close by. Head farther up the road and you get small-town life. The cleaning staff were busy, and the warm, friendly front desk employee seemed to be on top of everything, from calls and reservations to the desk.

The rooms felt comfortable and were kept in good shape. The location was clean and felt safe.

We were glad to have a comfortable place to rest after a long drive, and the listing photos matched what we found. The staff had that warm southern friendliness. There’s a small, nice pool open from sunup to sundown, an office center with two computers and a printer, and three large snack and drink machines downstairs. The well-lit lot has plenty of parking, and we felt safe. The solid concrete construction, including the walls between rooms, meant no annoying neighbors to worry about. We paid under $100 for two adults and two beds, which is hard to beat. The location is tucked behind the I-10 off-ramp in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, with local grocery stores and restaurants nearby. We got a room without a reservation, and the veteran’s discount was easy to get. It was spacious and clean, with modern furniture and bedding, and the mattresses, pillows, and linens were comfy but firm. There’s a vanity sink outside the washroom and another in the bathroom, both with granite counters, plus a shower stall. The roomy tub had plenty of hot water, and the ceiling heat lamp made it cozy. The room came with shampoo, conditioner, bar soap, makeup remover pads, a hair dryer, an iron and ironing board, and a large fridge with a small but working freezer. The microwave has two outlets on the front. By the bed, the night table had an alarm clock, lamp, and more outlets. The Panasonic flat screen had lots of channels, and the WiFi was easy to connect to and fast. A desk and comfortable chair were useful, too. A few things kept this from five stars. There was a noticeable musty smell indoors, though they were clearly deodorizing and had rooms marked closed for deep air cleaning. A dehumidifier in the room would have helped. The AC put out plenty of cool air, so we were comfortable. The blackout curtains worked well but had some wear and a few tears. There wasn’t an extra blanket, and I was already deep asleep wishing for a thicker one by the time I thought to ask housekeeping. Breakfast was the usual for this kind of hotel, but not very impressive. The hot bar had sliced kielbasa, grits, and cubed potatoes, though it was only warm, and the grits were dried out. The waffle iron was hot, but the batter machine was too complicated for my morning brain, and no attendant was around at 9:20 am. There was a nice toaster but no bread or bagels, cold yogurt cups, a juicer with cold drinks, and hot coffee and tea with creamers and sweeteners. The pool and friendly staff made the stay pleasant. We’ll be back to the little town and this hotel, and next time we’ll visit Lake DeFuniak for a historical swim. It recently opened to the public after being closed for 57 years, for reasons worth googling.
