Quality Inn Del Rio

I was greeted by friendly staff when I arrived. There were signs about remodeling, so I expected mess and noise day and night, but I didn’t hear the work or other guests from my room. The first day my AC wouldn’t switch on, so I went down and got moved to another room without any issue. I didn’t ask for housekeeping during my stay, but the staff I met were very nice. The stay worked for what I needed, and I’m very satisfied. I wouldn’t change anything. I hope to come back after the remodel is finished.

The drug use by other guests was the main reason we left abruptly. The smell of pot was so strong it got into our rooms and made team members sick. We reported it to the front desk, but they didn’t seem to care. At one point, I was told there wasn’t much they could do. When I spoke to area law enforcement, they told us to leave as soon as possible. One of the worst hotels ever. The rooms are big, but the furniture isn’t comfortable. My office chair was broken, the dresser drawers wouldn’t stay shut, and getting the room cleaned was like pulling teeth. The bed was comfortable, but when the pool had water in it, it was an ugly green. There’s no elevator, so pack light if your room is upstairs.

I was there for four nights and had to get towels, coffee, and toilet paper every night. There was no trash removal, and they kept giving me reasons my room wasn’t cleaned. I had to put a chair in front of the door at night to feel safe, then moved the chair to cover the trash under it. There’s a $50 charge for who knows what. You get it back, but there’s no need for it. The rooms weren’t as advertised, and there was no hot breakfast. I travel for work, and this is by far the worst place I’ve stayed. There’s no service to speak of. I didn’t book this myself, and I told my company to stop being cheap and not use this hotel. If I could leave negative stars, I would.

Room 106 had one King and one Queen bed and was definitely big. The walls looked freshly painted, the room was clean, and the AC was on when we got in. My wife, stepdaughter, and I found the beds very comfortable. I liked the sheets and soft pillows, and it was the best sleep I’ve had in a motel in a long time. For the price, we thought it was a good experience. The bathroom could use an update, and the showerhead needs a good cleaning or probably replacing. The TV is a flatscreen, but had only a few local channels, the weather channel, and ESPN. I did get to watch a couple of college football games in the evening. The downside was breakfast. Nothing was set up at 7 a.m. or at 8:20 when we left, so don’t expect breakfast. We drove down the road to Skillets and had a good meal before leaving town. For the price, I’d give it 3.5 stars. Missing breakfast cost it half a point.
