The room felt almost like a small apartment, with a separate living area, microwave, desk, couch, and mini fridge. It was spacious, clean, and beautiful, and I’d be completely comfortable staying several nights. The hotel is historic and downtown DeLand, and the front desk staff were helpful and friendly. The downstairs bar/lounge was handy, and the bartender was accommodating. Parking is complimentary, but make sure to get a pass from the front desk at check-in so your car isn’t towed. There’s a Cuban restaurant attached that smelled delicious, though I didn’t get to try it. I only stayed one Saturday night, but would gladly return. A few things could be better: there were very few outlets, housekeeping had left only about a quarter roll of toilet paper so I had to ask the front desk for more, and the door used a generic passcode on a keypad instead of a key card. From the code I was given, it seemed easy to guess other rooms’ codes, so I’m unsure how secure the rooms are if other guests can work out yours.

The bed was comfortable, and although the hotel is close to downtown activities, it stayed quiet. Staff were really friendly. The rates were about the same as a chain hotel a few blocks away, but this place had more charm, including a bar with red velvet and bookshelf decor. I was surprised by how many bathroom extras there were, beyond the usual things: razors, toothpaste, mouthwash, and makeup remover.

We loved having the restaurant and roof bar, and being able to walk straight into downtown from the front door was so convenient. At check-in we had a problem with the bed size in our room. The front desk agent that night supported us right away while another room was prepared, and we were really grateful and impressed by how well they handled it. We enjoyed our stay.

The hotel restaurant was amazing, and the area felt fun and real. The bagel spot down the street was especially good. Our room had a few awkward stains on the furniture, and the TV remote barely worked even from close by. Street noise was really intense after 10, with people revving engines and trying to impress. We stayed two nights. Nothing is open on Mondays, which was my mistake, but if Sunday and Monday leave you with nothing to do, there are no refunds for leaving early.

We could walk everywhere we needed to go, and the surroundings felt safe in a beautiful town. The restored historic building is amazing, right down to its wooden floors. Our junior suite was spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, with loads of pillows. Hot water came quickly and the shower pressure was excellent. The small, cavernous speak easy style bar felt straight out of a black and white Bogart movie.
