The staff made the biggest difference this time. The front desk guy was really welcoming, and the room was much cleaner than I remember, which shows how hard the head housekeeper is working. I stayed in one of the newly renovated rooms, and it was a major improvement. This place seems to be moving in the right direction, and I’ll be back to see how it keeps progressing.

The housekeeper went above and beyond and made our stay comfortable. Our renovated room was really clean and nice, and the front desk worker was polite with a great attitude. We’ll definitely stay here whenever we’re in town.

The roaches were everywhere when we walked in. I lost count, and that was the worst part. There were traps all over, but they clearly weren’t working. Both sets of sheets and the wall had stains, and the room smelled bad too. How hard can it be to bug bomb the rooms?

The managers were nice and said they were trying to turn the place around, but for $75.00 a night, it should at least be stayable. We checked in around 4 p.m. on Oct.13, and the remote was taped together, though they gave us a new one when we asked. The freezer was filthy and frozen solid, with some kind of food left in it. I put bottled water in the fridge when we arrived, then found the next morning that it didn’t work. We got up early to shower, but there was no water pressure and the shower didn’t work. Thank God I’d brought bottled water, since that was the only way to rinse our mouths after brushing our teeth. There were two glue traps, one beside the bed and one behind the toilet, which was a red flag. To flush, I had to hold the handle down for at least 30 seconds, or until everything went down. I asked for a few more towels and never got them, though we obviously couldn’t shower anyway. My fiance was sick from chemo, and the manager said she had a migraine. It was a horrible experience. This place shouldn’t even be open yet. Never again. I wish I could get my money back. 😡

Kevin, the owner, kept the price down even after my expected two-day stay grew to 10 days while I was buying a home in nearby Marion. Other hotels cost at least 40% more and wanted another $50 a dog per night, while Kevin charged just $10 per dog. There’s an open field right next door for walking them. He could have taken advantage of the longer stay, but instead did what he could to keep the cost down. You won’t find that kind of sympathy anywhere, even at the more luxurious hotels where I’ve been a steady customer. They may call themselves pet friendly, but they care more about how much money they can get. It isn’t the most luxurious hotel I’ve ever stayed at, but it is the friendliest. I’d like to come back sometime just to say hi and thank these two wonderful people. All the best to them.
