Home2 Suites by Hilton Tucson Airport

The staff texted to ask how I was, but didn't follow up when I had an issue. My shower didn't seem to have been cleaned before my stay. I texted through the app, called the front desk, then went there in person. When the housekeeper finally came, he argued with me in broken English instead of checking that the shower was empty. I got two quarter rolls of toilet paper and they were out of paper towels. There were only shampoo and body wash bottles in the shower, plus a mini conditioner even though they have larger bottles. The breakfast had good quality and variety, the Peloton exercise bike was nice, and the kettle nells were cool. But the floor above me woke me at 4:30 a.m. with kitchen cabinets banging, and the acoustics are so bad I could hear someone above yawning at night. The AC cycled on and off all night, so I wish you could set the thermostat to constant fan. There's no hot tub, and no bathtubs either. I will avoid this chain, especially this location.

Check-in went well, and the young woman making our drinks was great. Breakfast was another story: the person meant to prepare it never showed, so we had to hit the road hungry with only gross Mc Dee's nearby. They really need a backup plan for when that happens.

The good points at this Home2Suites were clean rooms, easy parking, a reasonable price, and a good breakfast. Still, I love this chain and this location had several annoyances. We had to ask for a do not disturb hanger, and during our five-day stay the coffee was usually lukewarm at best. The shower glass door wouldn't stay closed, and the squeaky floor above us woke us at night. On checkout day, we were told the time was 11 even though the door had bold red numbers saying noon. They said they'd told us at check-in, which they probably had, but they could have corrected the sign or covered it with tape. It was confusing.

The room was spacious and great, but there wasn't any soap in the dispenser when I got into the shower. The front desk service wasn't the Hilton-level expertise I'm used to. I also found it farther off Hwy 10 than expected. I like Hilton and Home2suite, just not the usual expert experience here.
