La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Denison - N. Lake Texoma

The front desk manager was super good, and getting the Wyndham Diamond member upgrade was easy. I stayed 5-27-26 in room 305, paying in the $130s. The layout was unusual, with the bedroom in the living area and a private, separate room at the back. It was different and cool. The room was clean, quiet, and had no bugs. WiFi worked well, and the AC cooled the room down nicely. The TVs were small and a lot of channels weren't available, but that wasn't a big deal. The mattress was very, very firm; the pillows were good. A good spot to stay.

The room smelled strongly musty and was uncomfortable to stay in. There was condensation on the window from what seemed to be a failed window pane, likely why the room smelled. The towels were stained and shedding material, and the milk we got at breakfast for our 4-year-old toddler was sour. Both cartons were bad, and it made me sick. After staying there, we felt dirty and didn't feel comfortable going back to the hospital the next day. We'd spent the day unexpectedly visiting my dad in the hospital and arrived exhausted, overwhelmed, and hoping for a quiet, easy check-in with our 4-year-old. Instead, Gabriel at the desk was extremely rude. The reservation was under my account, though the guest name had apparently defaulted incorrectly. He said there was no reservation under my name and dismissed the confirmation number in my email. After I asked several times for him to check it, he found the booking under another name, then said, 'that's why I asked multiple times,' and laughed at me. It felt humiliating and unprofessional. He demanded my debit card and ID without explaining or showing courtesy. While telling us about things like the elevators and breakfast, he abruptly stopped mid-sentence, said 'whatever,' and dismissed us with, 'I'm done, y'all can go.' We weren't rude, just worn out after a stressful hospital visit. We were treated like an inconvenience from the moment we arrived. We sent two emails the morning after our stay, which was over two weeks ago, and the manager never replied. He fails to hold staff accountable. Unless you want to feel dirty and have unsafe milk or food, book here.

I've stayed here at least five times, and it's been wonderful every time. The staff are always super friendly and helpful, the rooms clean, and the beds cozy with plenty of big, fluffy pillows. I don't have to worry about safety or a lot of noise. It's affordable too, and will always be my go-to when I'm in town. Highly recommend.

The people at the front were nice and chatted with customers while we waited to check in. But the room was decrepit, smelled bad, and felt way overpriced for what I paid. They were very concerned about dogs in rooms and asked if we had one, though we didn't. If guests are charged extra for bringing dogs, housekeeping should at least clean up the hair left behind. Our couch was covered in it, and there was still quite a bit on the floor. The bathroom door also wouldn't shut. It was just me and my daughter, but still. I'd stay somewhere in Sherman instead, where there are more choices than Denison.
