Sea Shell Motel

We were only a few feet from the beach, reached by a boardwalk that was easy for older people to manage. The beds were clean and really comfortable, and there was just the right amount of room. Staff were so helpful and friendly, and if anything was missing from our room, they fixed it quickly. The management was amazing. My daughter booked this charming beachside getaway as a quick trip, and I was surprised by how much I loved it. I wish we'd stayed longer. Thank you, we'll be back!

The staff were excellent, and our two-star room had an ocean view and deck, plus a refrigerator and microwave. It has no heat and needs upgrades.

The location was lovely, but the rest of the stay was deeply disappointing. Ordinary rain flooded the entire parking lot. The owners blamed the weather and wouldn't acknowledge that this level of flooding seemed abnormal, even on the coast. They didn't email guests or explain what was happening. The office was open as a way through, but nobody told us, so we waded through knee-deep water several times before figuring it out. Our shower head was broken, the tub wouldn't drain, and the dishes in the room had been left dirty. When I raised these issues, the owner accused me of bringing them up only because they'd already denied a refund over the parking lot. I understand that weather can't be controlled, but drainage or parking lot design is a property issue. On the phone, they repeatedly talked over me, so I couldn't explain how I felt and the call became an argument. They eventually offered a one-night refund, which I still haven't received and probably never will. We'd looked forward to the trip for a long time, so the unprofessional response was disheartening. Sea Shells hospitality, or lack of it, ruined our vacation. Better service and communication might have made some problems easier to overlook, but the lack of accountability and disrespect when we tried to get answers or find a solution means we'll NEVER be back.

The Sea Shell felt like a home away from home. The room was beautiful and clean, and the courtyard has two gas grills that many guests, including us, used to cook lunch and dinner. Staff and fellow guests were friendly. Joy at the front desk was a real joy to deal with. Dogs are welcome too, and it was nice seeing them come and go. I know how they feel, since my girlfriend keeps me on a short leash too. If it fits your budget, I'd pay extra for one of the few oceanfront rooms. I wish we'd stayed longer, and next time we'll try to book one. Great place, strongly recommend.
