avid hotel Denver Airport Area by IHG

I almost never post reviews, but Avid at the Denver Airport impressed me enough to write one. The room was so clean and comfortable that I actually relaxed, which is rare for me in a hotel. The lobby and bathroom were pristine too. Everything felt new, with clean linens, comfortable beds and pillows, and a hard floor that seemed much cleaner than questionable, grimy carpet. The lobby has complimentary hot chocolate, tea, and freshly ground coffee, plus cups, plates, bowls, plastic cutlery, and a microwave. We left before breakfast, but fruit and muffins were available for early departures. The complimentary shuttle runs every 30 minutes.

The shuttle ran on time, which I appreciated, but the stay was disappointing overall. The hotel wasn't transparent about costs, and I ended up paying double what I expected. Parking alone was $12 a night, which I'd never encountered at a hotel before. My room was tiny, had no bathtub, and the gray and red color scheme felt jarring rather than comfortable. The place had a weird vibe, and the soundproofing was poor enough that I heard people in the hallway all night.

The full pull-down curtain was probably my favorite feature. It blocked out all the sunlight, unlike hotel curtains that leave gaps. The shower pressure was just a little behind it, it's amazing. The hotel is very clean, with simple rooms and a bathroom that's spacious compared with others I've stayed in. There's an alarm clock and plenty of room for your things. The TV was one of the biggest I've seen in a hotel, and my phone connected right to it. The front desk staff were exceptionally nice and let me check in an hour early. Love this hotel!

The reception staff were warm and helpful, and the room was clean with very good sound insulation. The location works perfectly if you're arriving late at night or leaving early in the morning. Free machines for hot coffee and chocolate drinks in the lobby are a nice way to start the day.
