Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Denver Airport

Our room was clean, quiet, and comfortable, so we slept well before traveling. The Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Denver Airport is close to Denver International Airport and the south parking area, which made the location convenient. There’s a shuttle every 30 minutes, though we decided to leave our car at the parking spot instead and that worked out well. Breakfast is free, but limited, mostly hot food and not much fresh fruit. A solid, convenient place for airport access.

After corresponding with the GM, I adjusted my rating. The refund came through, but the room quality, noise, and ants still keep my score where it is. The floor creaked, there were loud banging sounds outside all night, and we found ants in the room. The laminate flooring had a gap because it hadn’t been fitted properly. I was charged twice, once through United Airlline hotel and once directly by the hotel. When I raised it, they said it was my problem to sort out with my credit card company. I did virtual check-in, but still had to check in again at the hotel. That took 30 minutes, and then I was charged twice. Personally, I’d pay more for a slightly nicer hotel. This one is pretty bad.

We called ahead to confirm our room, told the desk we’d arrive late, and confirmed the 4:25-4:30 AM shuttle with Brian at the front desk. We were at pickup by 4:00. For the next 90 minutes, Brian repeatedly said the driver was just a few minutes away. Meanwhile, shuttles from other hotels passed three or four times. We finally had to pay for an Uber at 5:20 AM. When we arrived at 5:40, our confirmed room had been cancelled. They sent us to a sister property and told us to wait for another shuttle, even though five empty shuttles were sitting in the lot. We walked instead. The hotel’s “Owner's” reply below blames my tone and deflects from what happened. About the claim of hostility: I was frustrated after being stranded in the middle of the night and repeatedly lied to. I stayed factual and professional until the “manager” at the second hotel was dismissive, took no responsibility, told me to stop talking, and threatened not to check us in while still charging the $100-plus we’d paid. The manager also refused a late checkout, then called our room phone three times in a row around 6:30 AM. That cut into the few hours we might have slept before checkout at 11 and the drive to Wyoming. About “Unauthorized Photography”: I only took a photo because the woman claiming to be the manager wouldn’t give her name or any supervisor’s contact information. Guests should be able to identify staff who act unprofessionally, especially when they refuse to identify themselves. Nobody apologized for the 90-minute wait or the driver who never came. They didn’t do their best to communicate. They gave us false information, then acted surprised that we were upset. This hotel left us stranded at the airport, cancelled our room, and blamed us for being frustrated. The management is inexperienced, the shuttle service is a myth, and customer service is nonexistent. Book somewhere else.

The room was a really nice overnight stop at a fair price, with a comfy bed, clean bathroom, and a few snacks for an early departure. Check-in was quick, check-out was a breeze, and staff helped us with to-go snacks. I’d stay here again, though I hope I never have to return to DEN if I can help it. Once again UAL couldn’t manage back-to-back flights. I’ve been to DEN three times, and each visit has brought trouble. Not sure why this city has an airport, let alone why UAL thinks it’s a good hub. We booked last minute, around 8 pm for a 6 am flight. The one drawback, which I won’t hold against the hotel, was the shuttle capacity. It held about 15 people, but at least 60 were waiting because it serves multiple hotels. Storms likely caused the long line. We took a $30 Lyft, and needed another in the morning since the shuttle wasn’t running yet.
