It was quiet, clean, and all the staff were friendly. I had no one bothering me while I was there, and enjoyed the stay. My rooms were large, with a small fridge and microwave, and the hotel was close to all kinds of things to do in Denver. I almost wonder if it’s changed hands.

Manager Angelique was welcoming and attentive from the moment I arrived. The location’s perfect, just a short walk from downtown and the main attractions. I had a fantastic five-star stay at Inn at the Highland and definitely recommend it.

The room in the main building was even worse than the first, so I checked out immediately and drove six hours home, counting my losses. I’d already been given a key for a room in the next building, which meant driving my truck around the block to the back of the office. That room was disgusting: burn marks on the floor, blood on the wall, a filthy bathroom, yellow-stained sheets, a booger on the pillowcase, and sticky, filthy floors. I grabbed my suite area, drove back around to the office, and told the woman I wasn’t staying and wanted my money back. She refused, saying I’d been in the room more than ten minutes and she didn’t know what I’d done in there. The elevator in the main building looked and smelled awful too. This place was a dump. STAY AWAY FROM THIS “hotel”.

Very gross, and absolutely not worth $100 a night. The photos need updating because the place looked like a run-down shelter. The sheets were stained and filthy, so we asked for replacements. There was blood on the luggage carrier when we arrived, and no one helped with our bags. They seemed very short-staffed. When we checked out on Saturday, December 6, from 10:00 to 10:30 am, the three women at the counter ignored the line of guests. I waited at least 20 minutes. Also, be careful talking about guests in Spanish. You never know who understands it. I speak Spanish and heard the comments, which I did not appreciate. This doesn’t look like a safe area, and I’ll never bring my family here again.

We stayed as a family for a little over a week, and our son ended up hospitalized after slipping on the dirty floor and chipping a tooth. The room furniture choice and lack of family friendliness were an issue too. There was no promised room service, and housekeeping staff were the only friendly people we encountered. The morning front desk woman was rude and abrupt, and put phone calls ahead of guests standing there. At 10:45 am she wouldn’t accept payment for another night, then reluctantly gave us 30 minutes to leave. When I asked why we couldn’t pay and stay, she said, “I don’t have to tell you that,” and wouldn’t explain. After 20 years in the service industry, I can’t believe the lack of customer service. The only helpful person was the overnight front desk man. I’m pretty sure he got in trouble for matching the hotel’s daily rate to the Priceline price. Convenience doesn’t make up for the staff attitude. Don’t stay here if you have kids. Even without kids, this isn’t the place to stay in Denver. I wouldn’t recommend it to my worst enemy.
