The safety and comfort here were poor enough that no deal, discount, or convenient location would make me book again. I don’t think this place is suitable for families or anyone who cares about feeling safe. Please read the reviews closely before reserving. I didn’t, and regret it. After I started feeling unsafe, I looked at earlier reviews and found many over well more than a year describing the same issues: unsafe conditions, questionable guests, and reports of drugs on the property. It seems the hotel has known about this for a long time without addressing it. It left me thinking that filling rooms and collecting money mattered more to them than guests’ wellbeing. We only stayed because we’d already paid and couldn’t afford to leave without losing our money. I booked at the last minute, only hours before check-in, and same-day cancellation wasn’t free. I want to be upfront about that since someone might ask why we didn’t just go elsewhere. But the experience taught us that no amount of money is worth compromising safety and comfort. The first night, we were put on the 1st floor. At 2am, strangers knocked on our window. The next morning, the receptionist and owner were there and apologized. We were shaken and exhausted, so didn’t push further. We moved to the 3rd floor and hoped things would get better. They didn’t. Marijuana and cigarette smoke were constant throughout the building. The parking lot also worried us: there was a steady presence of people who made us uncomfortable leaving our car unattended. The other guests concerned us too. On our second night, the fire alarm went off and everyone evacuated into the hallway. Seeing the guests up close confirmed the uneasy feeling we’d had since arriving. I’ll leave it at that. The rooms were dirty and the bathrooms worse. I ordered disinfectant wipes and hand sanitizer just so I could feel safe touching things in our room. The gym was basically a dusty storage room, with equipment that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in months. The elevator near entrance C was out of order, leaving everyone with just one working elevator far from most rooms. On that second night, the fire alarm was almost certainly set off by someone smoking in their room. It felt like a fitting end to a stay we never should have had. Management knew about our concerns after the first night and offered only a verbal apology, with no action, accountability, or follow-through. Families and people traveling with kids are being housed in the same building as people who seem dangerous and involved in illegal activity. A hotel has a basic responsibility to help guests feel safe, and this one failed completely.

I initially liked staying here, and Jamie and Greg are great. My truck broke down, so I needed a room for a couple of weeks while I worked and saved up to fix it. During my third week, I got a call at work saying someone was taking another customer’s floor jack and belongings from beside my truck. They had a description and license plate, and we found the vehicle in the lot. When we went toward the trailer, the maintenance guys closed it and said they were cleaning. They left my trash bucket but took an AC unit I had for scrap, along with the other customer’s floor jack. Then someone who I think was the manager came over, asked which vehicle was mine, and said it looked like I was living in it. I explained it had broken down, I was fixing it, and I had a room while I got the money together. She said I couldn’t keep a broken-down vehicle there and needed to have it fixed and moved by Wednesday. On Wednesday, she came out with two others and said I had to leave. I told her I was in room 195. She said we’d be kicked out Friday, and I confirmed I understood. The next day, some friends told me they’d been kicked out of the lot for no reason. I asked Hailey at the desk why and what we could change, but she said she had her reasons and that I needed to be gone the next day. She wouldn’t explain what those reasons were. I think that’s unprofessional and hurts the company. They’ve asked us for bolt cutters to cut a couple of padlocks on people refusing to check out, and we’d sweep the whole parking lot. The unfriendly staff and bathroom padlocks look tacky. I’d like to talk to the owner and make an offer to help improve the place to a four-star level. It has potential.

The stay was clean, comfortable, and a very reasonable price. We biked the 2 miles to Mission ballroom easily for a concert, and I’d stay again for another show. We had seen a review about bed bugs and worried about it, but found no signs of bugs. The hostess also assured us there hadn’t been any issues in over a year.

The location is the biggest drawback. The hotel is off 70 in a warehouse district, and despite being “close” to downtown, there isn’t even a convenience store within walking distance. I booked on Expedia, then noticed the hotel website had much better rates, so compare prices if you’re considering it. The room was basic and an ok value. Furniture was chipped and scarred, the shower and furnishings looked dated, and there was water damage throughout the bathroom. Rooms only get serviced every other day. The bed, though, was clean and fairly comfortable. The refrigerator and microwave worked fine. It used to be a Clarion, if that helps set expectations. Breakfast isn’t included, but for $10 you can get a nice breakfast sandwich with excellent service. The daytime desk staff were the best part of the hotel. Night staff weren’t as good. The desk clerk warned me that my stay included 4/20 day, which was funny since pot is legal and people smoke everywhere.

Our room was clean and the bed was comfy, and for the price, you can’t beat it. The night shift front desk worker was amazing and really helped us out. We’re super grateful. I only took a star off for the location, since there isn’t much nearby. If I were more of a morning person, I’d have tried the restaurant. When we checked out at eleven am, it smelled delicious.
