For a weeklong work trip, The Maven Hotel at Dairy Block was easy to get to on foot from Union Station. The standout was the staff: every request or issue was sorted within minutes. A complimentary shuttle covers a two-mile radius, and there are several onsite dining choices if you don’t want to go out. Kachina Cantina’s fry bread tacos were excellent, and the building also has counter-style spots. The industrial-style rooms look cool, but some design decisions favor looks over use. The swing chair feels more like a novelty, and the metal stools wobble and aren’t very comfortable. Longer stays could be tricky: there’s no room fridge, no vending machine for water (though filtered water stations are available), and only a tiny bathroom trash can. Housekeeping is on demand instead of daily. Great service, location, and food options. The rooms could use more practical touches, especially for longer stays. Best suited to short work trips or travelers who care most about service and location.

Our flights were canceled, and we ended up diverted to Denver after going 24-48 hours without sleep. I booked while we were on the train from the airport, and by the time we got off and walked four minutes to the hotel, the room was ready. I was incredibly grateful, and the woman at the front desk was lovely. All the staff were great during our stay. The rooms were clean, cozy, and modern, with a spacious, gorgeous bathroom stocked with makeup wipes and everything you need. There were thoughtful touches throughout, including free drink tickets and free churros. Those were the best churros I’ve had, weird for a free hotel churro. They also offer rides within two miles. This will be our go-to place from now on.

The desk ended up being perfect for a late-night snack in front of the TV, and once we saw our two little Chiweenies stretched out in the sun by the balcony door, the hanging chair made sense too. Our room was quiet and the bed was comfy. The layout seemed strange at first, with that long desk, the corner swing, and a sliding barn door on the bathroom. The front desk team were lovely and even offered natural dog treats. Our pups were too excited to eat them right away, but enjoyed them later. There are plenty of food options right in the lobby, and Ball Arena and Empower Field are an easy walk, with good restaurants nearby too. The only tricky part might be finding a potty spot for bigger dogs. Our dogs used the little patches of dirt around the street trees, and of course we cleaned up. We had a really fun stay and will be back.

The check-in agent was genuinely friendly, and the location is handy for restaurants. The room was also quiet. That was about it for the high points on our first stay here to ring in 2026. For a four-star hotel, the beds were a letdown. Both queen mattresses dipped in the middle, didn't feel like pillowtops, and we could feel the springs. The desk and middle nightstand were badly scratched and chipped, and there wasn't a hair dryer in the room. At checkout, we were charged an extra roughly $35 amenity fee that hadn't been mentioned when we booked through a third party. We still don't know what it covers. The $100 nightly incidental hold also seems excessive given the condition of the furnishings. I'm open to trying the place again if management addresses these things. The location by itself doesn't make up for them.

The happy hour food at both restaurants and bars was wonderful, and we really liked the free churros and cocktail too. The gym and being close to everything around the ballpark were ideal. We came in as locals for a staycation weekend and loved the advanced check-in. The room was comfortable, though a couch or hanging chair seemed to be missing. We didn't really need one, so no big deal. A couple of charger ports were broken off their mounts or just didn't work. Everything else about the hotel was wonderful. I'm a big fan.
