Des Moines Marriott Downtown

The rooms were clean and spacious, and felt homey. There’s easy access to the skywalk and plenty of local spots nearby. Allisha was friendly and professional while helping with our booking, and Mike brought great energy to the transportation team.

Our work as décor vendors was made much easier by how organized and welcoming the staff were during setup. The Marriott Downtown Des Moines team “laila” was accommodating and handled the details smoothly, so we could focus on making the space beautiful. I called to book a stay for someone else and managed to make mistakes twice. First I spoke with the reservations department, then called the front desk. Both women were fantastic, patient and accommodating the whole time, and very personable. Service like that feels rare these days. This review is just about the wonderful help I got over the phone today.

It’s handy to be connected to the Skywalk, especially in cold or snowy weather, and the downtown Des Moines location is ideal. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with nice furnishings, a large desk, good closet space, and a safe. I liked the luxury vinyl plank floors and lack of carpet. Bathrooms are small but efficient, with roomy walk-in showers, glass doors, and strong water pressure. Mash and Marrow downstairs was a mixed bag. The servers were kind, personable, quick with the food, and prompt with soda refills. The churros with dulce de leche sauce were delicious, but the raspberry hot pepper cream dip was strange and inedible. The restaurant felt cold in the winter since it’s in the lobby. Prices seemed high and the menu was limited. I added shrimp to pasta for $12 and got five very small ones. The pasta was bland, and there was no salt or pepper on the tables, so I had to season it myself.
