Park West Hotel

We had a lovely girls’ trip here. The beds and pillows were very comfortable, the hotel felt clean and safe, and the staff were hospitable. It was also quieter than midtown, with the metro close by. The building is clearly old but updated, and I enjoyed thinking of it as a historic, authentic New York stay. I got nervous after reading reviews, especially the ones about bedbugs, but our experience was great. This is a three-star hotel, not a five-star one, and people may expect too much. If you go in with the right expectations, you’ll be very satisfied and save money.

The staff were really, really nice, and the hotel is inexpensive for NYC given its fantastic area. I didn’t find bedbugs, and the mattress seemed new when I checked. The furniture is very old, though the room was reasonably clean after the guests before us, with no hairs or similar things left behind. It still needs a proper deep clean. The place wasn’t as bad as the older reviews made it sound, so they may have changed some things.

We could see Central Park right from our room, and the location made getting around NYC easy. My daughter booked the trip, and after four nights there I was glad we chose this hotel. I’d worried about cleanliness after reading reviews, but our room was spotless and the bathroom looked brand new. The staff were friendly, and both the hot water and the heating and air conditioning worked great. I’d recommend it for a NYC visit.

Parking was limited, though we did manage to find a spot, and I’d still recommend staying here. The room was clean, tidy, and smelled nice. It was also quite small, as was the elevator. The bed sat very low, the refrigerator was warm with no thermostat to adjust it, and the hotel didn’t have cable. They also failed to provide face cloths. Those were the main issues.
