Hilton Des Moines Downtown

Otiz in housekeeping, and Emma and Naomi at the front desk were especially accommodating. The place was clean and quiet, and the skywalk to the convention center was really convenient, so there was no need to go outside. The weather during my February visit was great, though, and being outdoors was nice. Excellent service!

I’ve traveled for work for over 20 years all across the United states, and this hotel really impressed me. Restaurant servers and the lobby staff directing traffic both helped guests with a smile. Larry, the general manager, even called after I left a message about my stay. I never write reviews, but I might come to DesMoines for fun just to stay here again. Simply impressed!

The sink was clogged, so Engineering came to repair it. Two and a half hours later, we were told it was fixed. I then asked housekeeping to clean the bathroom again. After our Company Banquet and awards program, we came back to find the sink area merely wiped with a filthy hand towel that had been left hanging on the door handle. Hair and the nasty clog were still on the floor, in the shower, and in the toilet bowl. Disgusting for a Hilton Hotel. Items in the hotel store and drinks at the bar were outrageously priced. We didn’t try the restaurant, but I’m sure it was similar.

The hotel is new and still in excellent condition. There’s a bar, a restaurant, and a non-Starbucks Starbucks in the lobby. Parking is available in a lot or underground garage, but spaces are limited, so you may need to use the lot across the street. This stay, a large conference group was the problem. They were loud and generally rude, laughing and yelling at full volume on our floor until after midnight, then starting again at 7 a.m. That’s not what I generally expect at a Hilton. It felt more like a two-star hotel or motel crowd.
