The hotel was clean and comfortable, and I had a great experience with the young Black woman who checked me in. Service is why I’d give it 3/5: the middle-aged woman handling the shuttle didn’t seem to care that we had signed up and were there about ten minutes before departure. I raised it with the tall male supervisor present, but he acted as if nothing was happening, so I eventually took it to corporate. There’s an indoor pool in its own separate building, plus courtyard tables with umbrellas. There’s also a bistro-style bar where you can buy food and drinks. Just to be clear, there isn’t a dedicated continental breakfast.

I came to visit friends during ACen weekend, so I didn’t book the room and can’t say much about the amenities. The concierge was helpful when I couldn’t figure out where the elevator was. It’s tucked around a corner in a hall leading to the pool area. The rooms seemed spacious, the bathrooms were really nice, and the bed was mostly comfortable. I got a nap in. The area seemed nice, with a casino and event space up the road, and the Discount Mall south of I90 near the entertainment district. It looks like a decent place for a short vacation or a rest while passing through Chicagoland.

The front desk staff have been kind and really helpful whenever I’ve stayed at Courtyard by Marriott with my child. Once, I left a necklace in the bathroom and they found it and returned it, which I appreciated a lot. Another time my plans changed at the last minute, and they let me reschedule without any trouble. It’s a great spot for a short, relaxing getaway. The pool is large, clean, and well maintained, which works really well for families.

For the price, it was a decent place, and I’d probably stay again if I couldn’t find a better option. I was there for five nights. The room was clean and quiet despite being under the O’Hare landing path and right by I-294, though it was in rough shape, with cracks in the walls and bathroom ceiling. Service was good except for the man who helped us check out. The tap water came out cloudy. The pool wasn’t a good experience either: I left feeling gross, and the chlorine level seemed either too high or too low. The hot tub was broken while I was there, just a note, I’m not blaming the hotel for that.

Someone knocked on our door twice at 2 a.m., which wasn’t fun with a 5:30 a.m. airport shuttle ahead of us. That’s my only real downside, and it wasn’t the hotel’s fault. Otherwise, it was a decent stay. The front desk was cheerful, kind, and helpful, and the room was clean and decent. You do need to call for airport pickup, but it’s not a bad drive. The tap water looked cloudy for some reason.
