Desert Hot Springs Inn

We came for a quiet weekend to relax, and it worked out well. The backyard was a nice spot to enjoy the 420 friendly setup, and the pool and spa were both at perfect temperatures. The place smelled good, and my room was very clean. It’s not a 5-star resort, but it’s a high-quality 3-star place. We arrived Friday to an empty property and had the whole place to ourselves. Even after other guests checked in Saturday, it stayed peaceful. We’ll be back.

The room was clean, including the bathroom, and had a small kitchenette. The main Inn has a nice hot tub, and check-in was simple with a keypad code. The property is contactless and passively managed. Inaja #2 is in a house about a two-minute walk up the street from the main Inn. It seems to have four units with separate entrances, and the atmosphere was… interesting. The main issue was a strong cannabis smell when we arrived. It was a fine stay, though I’d probably consider other options next time.

The room had flies when we arrived, and my boyfriend had to spend time clearing them out. Mosquitoes and other bugs were around too. The bedside lamp didn’t work, and the bathroom sink water was excessively hot and hard to use. We’d booked a pool-view room but got a corner unit with no view of the pool. The pool itself was much smaller than advertised and full of dead bugs. Check-in instructions came only on the afternoon we arrived, even though we’d been told they’d come the day before. This stay wasn’t worth the price and didn’t meet my expectations for a 3-star hotel. I wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was clean and the King Bed Suite had a lovely view across the valley toward Palm Springs, though it was quite bare. The kitchenette was great, all brand new, and would have been useful if we’d planned to spend the weekend there. Check-in was easy with the gate and room codes at this unmanned, contactless property. Saturday night was quiet, which I appreciated after five days of traveling halfway across the country and back. The pool was nicely warm for a morning swim, and the jacuzzi was just okay, warm enough to soothe my body but not the hottest I’ve tried. The stay was very good and I’d return, but I’d bring sage to smudge the room. There was an incredibly strong chemical smell in our otherwise very clean room throughout the stay. I’d suggest they switch to organic products like Simply Green, which don’t leave such strong odors. We’ve stayed at similar Desert Hot Springs places and liked their spas, saunas, and jacuzzi, with less dog poop around. It’s pet-friendly and 420 friendly, but it’s a shame so many people leave their dogs’ mess all over the place. 🤢🤢🤢
