The room was clean and spacious, and the valet was a big help when we had trouble with our trunk. Parking was easy to use and worth the price. I was in town for a Red Wings game, and it was a safe area with an easy eight-minute walk to LCA. The front desk agent who checked me in was nice.
The people at the AC hotel made a difficult month away from home feel much more manageable. My mother was receiving intensive cancer treatment, and the staff did what they could to help me feel comfortable and at home during a hard, uncertain time. Diamond and Kiera especially showed compassion beyond what I'd expect from hotel staff. They checked in each day, listened, shared their own experiences, and gave me much-needed hugs. I'm forever grateful for the bright moments they brought to such a dark time. The front desk team welcomed me at every arrival and departure. When my dad needed another room at the last minute on a busy event weekend, they helped us find one. They also printed important documents for me without hesitation. Everyone I met was friendly, and the housekeeping and maintenance crews were helpful, warm, and efficient. The room was kept spotless, with coffee and water restocked daily, and maintenance quickly took care of a small issue. The location worked well for my needs, close to the hospital and a Q-Line stop that gets you downtown in minutes. There are restaurants from casual to upscale, coffee shops, convenience stores, and a Whole Foods a block away. The Conservatory inside the hotel was a delight, and the DIA is walkable. It's also convenient for Lions, Pistons, or Red Wings games, as well as Campus Martius and the holiday markets downtown, which I visited during my December stay. Parking was my one complaint: valet is pricey, and the nearby garage's actual prices don't match what it advertises. That's typical in other cities I've been to as well, though it isn't the hotel's fault. My room was comfortable and had the amenities I needed, including a TV, mini fridge, coffee maker, and workspace. I appreciated the lobby's holiday decorations, warm apple cider at night, shower steamers, and lavender sachets. Given the circumstances, I'm grateful to everyone who made the stay memorable. I highly recommend the hotel and its welcoming staff.
The restaurant was excellent. I especially enjoyed the medium-rare steak with broccolini, and while the wine list was small, it was well chosen. The bartenders and restaurant team took good care of us and made a very good martini. I stayed several times during a family member's hospitalization, and the hotel staff at every level helped make a difficult trip easier. The managers and receptionists arranged accessible rooms whenever we needed to extend our stay, and they were consistently friendly and professional. The valet staff were just as kind and professional, including helping my mom to the car. I'd return again. Thank you to everyone there.
The 24-hour espresso machine in the lobby is reason enough for me to come back. I also liked the bar, the croissants, and the central location. The room gets lovely natural light right now, though I figure the area may be less nice once it's more developed. My one gripe is the sliding bathroom door. Wish hotels would stop using those. Everything else was great.
The hotel is still quite new, just a year and three months old, and everything feels fresh. I haven't tried the food yet since I was only there for the night, but the Conservatory was a great spot to relax with a drink. All in all, I'll be back. I like the Autograph Collection by Marriott.
