Beach House Dewey

Beach House Hotel was such an enjoyable stay that my partner and I added another day. The room was comfortable and clean, and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. It's a block from the beach, with shops and restaurants right across the street, which made the location especially convenient. We'd recommend it to anyone after a relaxing, enjoyable vacation. It exceeded our expectations.

The location was the main plus, close to the beach and lots of restaurants. But Room 100 was so dirty that my kids' socks turned black right away, and although I'd requested a room without animals, the carpet smelled like dog pee and there was dog hair on the sheets. At check-in, I also heard someone say the whole toilet had fallen over. I was glad to have found a discounted rate on agora.com, since the usual nightly price was around $200.00. The outdoor pool was nice because it was about the only way to feel clean after being in the room. They took a $50 deposit, and when I called the next day I was told it could take 4-5 days to return to my card. One-time stay.

We paid $600 a night and left on day two. The beach is close and the staff were friendly, but the rooms weren't clean, there's no elevator, and this isn't a place I'd choose for a family. Across the street, the open-air bar's live band came through into our rooms despite having two noise machines in each one. We heard music until 10-11 PM, then a DJ track until 1 AM, followed by hotel parties after 2 AM. Guests who stay out until 2 AM or later might find it ideal. The hotel's policy says stays under three days don't warrant cleaning; the booking email said we could request it, but the front desk wouldn't accommodate us. Even without that, I wasn't sure the floors had been cleaned in a while. The glowing reviews saying it's good for kids don't fit our experience.

Once you park, most of Dewey is walkable, and the beach is only steps away on the ocean side of Route 1. Beach House Dewey is right in the middle of summer activity, near Bottle & Cork, and is one of the two hotels that make up Party Block Hotels. It's dog-friendly, with plenty of parking and a front desk staffed 24/7; the team has always been friendly and helpful. Rooms are clean, roomy, and comfortable, making a good place to retreat after a night out. The pool usually opens just after Mother’s Day and stays open through summer. Booking direct may cost less than using a third-party site. The town is only one mile long, so it's a good fit whether you want to party, relax, or mix the two.
