Motel 6 Dickinson

We brought our dogs and got the first-floor room we’d asked for, right by the back door. The bed was the most comfortable we’ve had at any hotel, and the room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Staff were friendly, and this is a big motel that seemed to have plenty of empty rooms, so they should stop keeping it a secret. The pool was closed, but we weren’t there for swimming. My one complaint is that there’s no grassy spot for pets. They had to go on the rocks at the back of the parking lot, but at least the mission was accomplished.

The room was spacious, though most of it was just empty space. There was a table but no chairs, and my “window” looked out at an abandoned indoor pool and hot tub, so the room got no natural light. The carpet looked okay but was dirty and needed shampooing. The door stuck so badly I needed both hands and a lot of force to open it. The tub dripped all night, and the big gap under the door plus thin walls meant I heard every noise. At least there were three pillows, since all of them were flat as pancakes. I travel with dogs and often choose Motel 6 because they don’t charge pet fees. This building seems to have been another big brand before, based on its design. Next time, I’d spend more and stay somewhere else.

The bed and pillows were comfortable, and the room was clean and quiet with good lighting and a nice TV. The shower was hot and adequate, though the tub faucet diverter didn’t work right, so the water wasn’t as forceful as it could’ve been. I appreciated having a fridge and microwave, but an ice bucket in the room would’ve been nice. Good value, and I’d return if I’m in the area.

The friendly front desk was easy to deal with, and housekeeping gave me plenty of attention. My king-size bed was comfortable, not too soft or too firm, and the rooms were kept clean. I enjoyed staying at Motel 6 and can’t wait to see the place after they finish the renovations and other changes. It has a lot of potential.
