Rabun Manor Resort

We came here last week for our wedding anniversary with two other people, and each of us ordered something different. My surf and turf was exactly what I wanted, and the food was fabulous. The dining room was immaculate and well appointed. A soft-spoken man played guitar and sang while we made memories we’ll keep forever. You won’t be disappointed!

The steak was delicious, but the rest of the food was mediocre, and the portions were tiny for $45 a person. The entree was literally two shrimp each. We had to call the restaurant because we were waiting in the lobby for our reservation, and the service was great after that. Just before, an employee or possibly the owner told us we were going the wrong way but didn’t let anyone know we were waiting. Signage is severely lacking, and the driveway and parking feel sketchy. When we asked for a drink menu, they said they’d lost their license. Not a horrible experience, but I won’t eat there again.

Rabun Manor is centered on a historic mansion that’s 175 years old, with five individually appointed rooms, including a ground-floor executive suite. There are also two cabins for guests who want more privacy. The restaurant serves a full, cooked-to-order breakfast included with your stay. It’s a lovely place for a night or two while heading north or exploring the area, with beautiful views, excellent food, and old Southern charm. We’ll definitely return.

Our favorite part was having coffee on the gorgeous front porch and enjoying the view. You can see a busy road below, but we didn’t pay attention to it. The room was very nice, the views were awesome, and David’s breakfasts were generous and delicious. The owner was also very nice and made the rounds at dinner and breakfast. There were a few disappointments. No one was there to greet us when we arrived, and the grounds badly need attention. The place didn’t look like I expected from the website’s photos and video. We’ve stayed at other B&Bs, and this one is a little different, but we enjoyed our weekend.
