Only one little desk lamp worked, and it took me half an hour to figure out how to use the TV. The shower soap holder was nasty and old, and the wall AC was loud. The clerk was rarely around, so you had to ring a couple of different doorbells and wait before he appeared. Weird setup. The place is disgusting, and I really don't recommend it. Keep going.

The air conditioner was so noisy I had to switch it off to sleep, and the floor was so dirty it turned my socks black. There was no TV in the room for two or three days, and I could barely understand the owner. Find somewhere else to stay.

I like these old-school motels. Every room is on the ground floor, so you can park right outside your door, and the bathroom tile and fixtures are vintage. My shower worked well and had plenty of pretty warm water. The owner keeps everything clean and neat. For the price, all that's missing is one of those quarter-operated vibrating beds and I'd be back in the '60s. There's a Chinese buffet nearby, too, with a really good spread.

At $65 a night for a King room, HODM was great value. I hadn't planned to stay, but if my car had to break down, I'm glad it happened in Dillon. If I needed a place to crash in the area again, I'd pick HODM over a closer, cheaper, or fancier option, because I'd know I was getting good value and helpful people. I went in braced for bugs, dirty sheets or bathroom, and broken appliances, but didn't run into any of that. The man at the counter was welcoming and pointed us to the auto shop next door when we had a blown-out tire. The room had a nice wall AC, a spotless toilet, curtains that blocked the light well, a neatly made bed, Wi-Fi, and even a fridge. The bathroom appliances had clearly been cleaned thoroughly. There were a few small issues: flushing the toilet took a trick, though it worked fine; the door's latch lock was broken, but the knob lock worked; and there was a little dirt in the corners, while the main surfaces were clean. I slept without trouble. I didn't see any bugs, and the place didn't look like somewhere bugs would infest.
