Microtel Inn & Suites Dillsboro/Sylva

The location worked perfectly for us, right between Franklin and Cherokee, and we’d stay here again if we needed to. I’d been uneasy after reading other reviews, but our room was clean and everything worked except the hairdryer. The hotel could use updates: the luggage cart we used had shredded wheels and one flat tire, though it was in better shape than the other cart. Breakfast was decent, nothing special, but welcome if you’re hungry. The second floor smelled awful when we got off the elevator on the first day, then the odor disappeared for the rest of our stay. The toilet was very low, which bothered my bad back, and the beds were only manageable for two nights. Still, it’s a decent place to sleep, and the location was just what we needed.

The pool was enjoyable, and breakfast was one of the few bright spots, though the drink machine often ran out. When we tried apple juice, black particles came out of the dispenser, which was concerning. The room itself was filthy on arrival: cockroaches were crawling around, the beds had visible stains, and a strong bad smell made it unpleasant to stay there. In the bathroom, black mold covered parts of the shower and mildew showed in several places. The room’s cleanliness and upkeep were unacceptable. For the price, I expected a clean, well-maintained place, not bugs, stains, mold, and a questionable drink dispenser. It wasn’t worth the money, and I wouldn’t stay again or recommend it to others.

We found the staff helpful, and check-in and checkout were both easy. The room was spotless, with fresh sheets and towels, and parking didn’t cost extra. Breakfast was included, too. We only stopped for the night before continuing our drive in the morning, and the location was convenient, not far from the highway. A pleasant stay at a reasonable price, thank you.

Jasmine made us feel right at home when she checked us in, and Robert was compassionate and went out of his way to help. MG was also wonderful at checkout and gave great service. The whole staff were outstanding and made us comfortable. For clean rooms, good prices, and such great customer service, I’d truly recommend staying here.
