Red Roof Inn Dothan

I travel for work and sometimes end up in bad rooms, but this was one of the worst. The owners or staff seem not to care. Even with the bar set low, they fell short. The first room was meant to be non-smoking but smelled like an ashtray. The bedding was stained and dirty, and the toilet wouldn’t flush properly, so I asked to move. The second room smelled a little less of smoke, though there was still a faint trace. The sheets looked clean, but the comforter had stains, and the bathroom was disgusting. The toilet still had someone else’s mess in it.

I stayed just yesterday and found the place clean and beautiful, with friendly people. I’m very wary of bugs, and there were none. Everything was clean, including the nice laminate floors. I stay at Red Roof because I travel with dogs. I don’t know what happened a couple months ago when those terrible reviews were written, but if that’s what the place was like then, they’ve taken care of it. Don’t be afraid to stay. I hope they get more good reviews. Great place.

The staff were pleasant, but the place was crawling with roaches, so I ended up crashing at a friend’s house. I’m still feeling like they’re crawling on me. One was on the bed, one by the fridge, one by the sink, and another near my clothes, which I had to leave behind because I couldn’t bring myself to touch them. This was my third night and third room there. The first night I saw only one roach. The second was a different room with no bugs at all. The third room was infested. It was supposed to be non-smoking but smelled like cigarettes, and there were a lot of men standing outside, staring and glaring. I booked through a third party, and the staff told me I had to ask them for my money back. The booking site also said no because the booking was non-refundable. Great. I’ll have to see if my bank can help. This place is a no-go for me, dog.

There were bugs and hair in the tub, and roaches ran out from under the refrigerator, which was leaking water onto the floor. The towels looked dirty, and I was glad I brought my own. The breakfast wasn’t complimentary as I expected. They gave us a bag with water, a breakfast bar, and yogurt. I called the front desk about the problems, but nobody came to check on them. Nobody cleaned the room either. The cleaning lady did ask my husband for a cigarette, though. The website doesn’t match what we found, and I feel the advertising is false. I won’t stay at Red Roof again. The health department needs to visit.
