Blue Star Motel

We paid $450 for two nights, Sunday and Monday, for a 200-square-foot motel room. The bed creaked, the bathroom door kept sticking, and a blind was broken. We did like the firepit and the location. Still, we had to put all the linens and towels in a bag for the maid and carry our trash out to the cans. A hotel room would’ve been better. Sorry 😞

The location was handy for enjoying the area and staying out of the middle of Saugatuck. There’s a veranda or deck at the back where you can relax. Our room was small and had no frills, but it was extremely clean. No one was on duty, though you could reach someone by phone if anything came up.

Blue Star Motel was great about communicating, with clear, friendly messages and service above and beyond. The room was very clean, there were plenty of towels, and parking was right outside. We liked the keypad entry too. Since we were there in the pre-season, the full breakfast wasn’t running, but the shared breakfast nook was well stocked with grab-and-go items like Cheerios, juice, and bagels. The only problem was a sink that drained slowly. We told the staff, and someone came right away to fix it. The room was small, really just space for a bed and desk, but it was exactly right for two of us who wanted to explore local spots. We needed a cozy bed for the night and would stay again next time we’re in the area.

We had a great stay in the two-bedroom apartment. It was beautiful and spacious, with two balconies, and the beds were so comfortable I didn’t want to get up. The owner was really nice and spent a while chatting with us. We could also watch deer in the backyard. We’ll definitely stay again.
