We ended up leaving with our family. Our room wasn’t clean, with stained sheets including a blood stain, an old toothbrush on the floor, a filthy trash can, and an A/C that wouldn’t cool. They also wouldn’t give us a room key, saying they had to unlock the door for us. That was odd, and I’d never experienced it before. Walking past so many rooms that looked abandoned didn’t help. The hotel needs major remodeling and deep cleaning, the pool needs to be filled again, and every bed needs new bedding before it opens again. I really think they should close it for that work.

The office is temporarily at the back of the building because the front lobby and restaurant area were damaged. They’re open again and still recovering from Hurricane Helen. The rooms could definitely use an upgrade, but the people were nice and helpful.

The property is being renovated after the storm, and the administration has been very welcoming. I’m here surviving hurricane Helena, and I’m grateful to have a clean, private, peaceful place to heal. Thank you!

The noise outside kept me awake until around 1:15 a.m., with rap music and bass coming from the parking lot. At about 2:30, a woman was screaming outside my door, apparently at her boyfriend in the next room, and a child was screaming and crying too. Marijuana odor from their room seeped into mine and was nauseating. The room itself was filthy and badly maintained. There were stains on the toilet paper roll and couch, feces on the sides of the toilet, a smoke detector ripped from the ceiling, and a TV tilted to one side that didn’t work, with a dead remote. The king bed had two completely flat pillows, and its worn fitted sheet wouldn’t stay in place. I couldn’t bring myself to shower, and I used towels to sleep on and cover myself because the bed was so disgusting. I’ve stayed in plenty of questionable hotels, but this was the worst. It felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and I don’t understand how it’s still open. The lobby is permanently closed, so check-in is in room 101, which is just as decrepit. Never again.

Econo Ledge was a hidden gem for me. The rooms were comfortable, and the cozy feel and attentive staff made me feel right at home. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, and thoughtful, and they went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable. I had a relaxing, enjoyable stay and can’t wait to come back.
