Hampton Inn Atlanta/Douglasville

Breakfast was our favorite part. The staff kept everything tidy and well stocked, and were attentive and welcoming. We especially liked the pumpkin waffles and fresh fruit. We were warmly greeted when we arrived, and the connecting rooms were a nice surprise since we'd booked two. They were clean and comfortable, with spacious spotless bathrooms. The lobby also had handy charging stations and coffee and tea. We'd come back.

We stopped here on a cross-country drive and found the hotel okay. The rooms were fairly nice, with what looked like newer showers, dressers, side tables, and coffee bar areas. The windows and coverings looked older, though. The bigger issue was finding three black spots on the ceiling, which turned out to be ladybugs. We later found about ten under the window covering. Bugs aren't ideal, even if ladybugs aren't the worst kind. Breakfast was fine but nothing special, and there was no hot water in the lobby the evening we arrived, so we couldn't make hot chocolate. We also noticed the elevator inspection was due in June 2025, although we stayed in November 2025.

We travel with our dogs and have spent more than 30 days in Hampton Inns around the US in 2025, but this was probably the dirtiest one I've stayed in. The front desk staff were courteous, and the breakfast area was clean and stocked, but cleanliness matters a lot to us. We always leave rooms cleaner than we found them, and our two girls, 4.8 and 21 pounds, are seasoned travelers who don't leave a mess. I felt bad having them stay in that room. We were assigned a pet-friendly room that smelled sour. While unpacking, we found a basketball-sized brown spot that hadn't been cleaned and smelled bad, plus bathroom drywall chewed by an animal before us. My husband took pictures to the desk, but they said there was no other room and housekeeping wouldn't clean the spot because we had dogs. We have kennels and could have secured the dogs while they cleaned it, but ended up buying carpet cleaner and doing it ourselves. Thank goodness we only had to stay three nights. The hotel needs fresh paint and a thorough cleaning.

My second stay was much better, though the temperature still wasn't right. The room was clean, with just a small red spill on the floor instead of the huge red stains across the carpet I'd seen the first time. Since it was fall, that may have helped keep things cooler, but even with the thermostat set to 66, it never got below 70. Breakfast was decent. I've moved my rating up to three stars and will be back for work, so maybe the third time will be the charm. The first visit was only worth two stars because the room wasn't clean and had those large carpet stains, and I couldn't get the temperature comfortable.
