Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Dover

The hotel has been here for years, but it’s been nicely renovated. My room was very clean, and housekeeping was really kind. Angela at the front desk was so nice, lovely, helpful, and informative, and she answered all my questions. I also met the manager, Pia, who was very friendly. I’ll definitely stay here again when I visit Delware.

We do close to 200 travel events a year, with multiple people on each trip, and usually choose Marriott because they’re easy to work with. This hotel won’t be on our list of options anymore. I’ll put it on our DO NOT TRAVEL List and we’ll find somewhere else nearby. My colleague and I were meant to stay this week, but bad weather pushed our event to the end of the month. We learned Tuesday morning and had to cancel after the free cancellation cutoff, which I understand. But my male coworker called and had his fee cancelled, while I was asked whether he was really my colleague, why we were staying, and whether I really needed a manager. I was told nothing could be done, even after I said our company would want to know why his fee was refunded and mine wasn’t. They said a manager would call. No one called, so I phoned Wednesday and was told again that nothing could be done without a manager, who had left for the day. I asked when she’d be in, 9am the next morning, and asked them to leave a note to contact me so we could resolve it. On Thursday morning I still hadn’t heard anything. At 9:45 I was told she wasn’t in yet and they’d pass along the message. I called at 2pm, and she still wasn’t in, but they said they’d email her. By then I didn’t even care about the fee. I’d spent so much time trying to get a manager on the phone for three minutes to send the documents I need for travel reimbursement.

Save yourself the trouble and stay elsewhere. The room was extremely disappointing, filthy, and uncomfortable, especially the messy bathroom. The heat smelled strange, was unbearable, and barely worked. Maintenance came at 10:30 PM to try to fix it, but when I raised the problem with management, the manager was rude and completely unhelpful. As a loyal Marriott member and timeshare owner, I expected far better. I’ve never had an experience like this at a Marriott.

The property is always impeccably clean and beautifully maintained, with a fresh, welcoming scent throughout. Tayler’s service stood out too. She was professional, warm, and attentive to detail, and she brought a personalized birthday card to my room. That thoughtful surprise made my birthday especially meaningful, and I won’t forget it. Tayler and the whole team deserve my sincere thanks. Her dedication, along with the hotel’s cleanliness and attention to detail, reflects a high standard of hospitality. Please pass along my appreciation. My stay was so special, and I’d like to commend her for it.
