We weren’t planning to stop in Dubois, but after driving through a white-out blizzard overnight, we badly needed somewhere to stay. My husband went into the Branding Iron with low expectations because of the poor online reviews, and we were pleasantly surprised. Our cabin was clean and comfortable, the price was reasonable, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They quickly brought us a pack n play for our exhausted baby. There’s apparently been a recent change in ownership, and the owners are working to repair the inn’s reputation. They went out of their way to look after us. We’d stay again without hesitation.

The owner was a great source of local information, and we’d highly recommend staying here. We were worn out when we got to Dubois, and the Branding Iron Inn felt like a bit of home comfort rather than an anonymous stay. The cabins have lovely old features alongside the modern comforts you’d expect. The shower had lots of hot water and great pressure, and the towels were unbelievably soft and fluffy, just pure luxury.

The owner spent 46 minutes telling me where to go throughout Yellowstone, and was extremely kind. This inn is comfortable, cute, clean, and has carefully thought-out amenities. My photos don’t do it justice. With so many expensive options around the National Parks, the price here is very reasonable for what you get. The bad reviews I’d seen didn’t feel fair after staying here myself. I also liked the small but nice view from my room while eating breakfast before heading to the Tetons and Yellowstone. There was a truck in the view, but that wasn’t their fault. Road construction workers were staying there, so it may be gone now. I’d recommend the place. 😊

The little cabin was cozy, comfortable, and had everything we needed. I loved its vintage style, which is hard to find these days. The front desk person was friendly and gave us tips on side roads with nice views. It was quiet, yet just a 30-second walk to restaurants on main street, and the price was extremely reasonable. Would definitely recommend!

If you’re exhausted and have no other options, this place will do. The people were nice, and the log cabin units had an old west feel. There was good water pressure and plenty of hot water, too. But there’s no AC, the beds are old, the pillows are about an inch thick, and the bathroom seemed like an afterthought. We paid $60 for one full bed, or $80 for a room with two full beds, which felt very expensive for what you get. If you stay in town, Cowboy Cafe had good dinner and a very good breakfast.
