Hampton Inn and Suites Dumas

My room was clean, and using the Hilton app meant I could check in and leave the next morning without stopping at the front desk. Great hotel.

My husband called after 12:30 a.m. on 09/01 while I was traveling from Colorado back home to Arkansas with our child and needed a room. He spoke with William, who said I’d need a reservation if I didn’t arrive by 3 a.m. He never offered to book one or help in any other way, only said it had to be done online. The hotel website showed $242 for one night, so my husband booked through booking.com for $174 with tax. When I arrived, William said that reservation had to be canceled and I’d have to pay another $174 for a room. Canceling meant I wouldn’t get any of the first payment back. Now I’m sitting in my car trying to sleep with my child so we can finish the drive home. I’m out $174 and too frustrated to sleep, while they have rooms available. No accommodation was made, and there was no communication from their side. Don’t stay here or trust the claims about great customer service.

Millie and Rachel, the two desk clerks, were kind and gracious. Our room had a clogged toilet, and staff apologized and offered to move us, but we arrived after 10 p.m. exhausted, so we stayed put and dealt with it. Aside from that issue, everything was great, and we had no complaints.

I love Hilton hotels, and this one had a heated pool, a spacious room, and a heated whirlpool tub. Breakfast was great and changed each day. There was also complimentary beer and wine every evening from 7-9 p.m., which was really awesome. I highly recommend this room!
