Best Western Dunkirk & Fredonia Inn

We stopped here overnight on December 19th while traveling toward Albany NY, and stayed in a pet friendly room. By March 5th, I was still trying to get rid of the bed bugs and lice we picked up during the stay. I can’t recommend this hotel. Travelers, beware. If I could rate it zero, I would.

We had to add a few days when a snowstorm hit, and the staff looked after us so well that the place started to feel like a second home. The rooms were clean, everyone was friendly, and it was a quiet little escape in Dunkirk. I’d gladly recommend it.

Breakfast was good, and the dining area was clean. The pool was warm and comfortable, and we really enjoyed it. The spa was out of service, though, leaving a large hole that probably ought to be covered. The staff were excellent and friendly. Our room was reasonably clean, which mattered a lot, but the hotel and rooms are a bit dated. The beds weren’t especially comfortable either. Bring a charger plug, since there are no USB ports. I’d come prepared just in case.

I wouldn’t have wanted to pay more than $100 a night for this room, but it was $200. The bed was decent and the towels and shower were clean, though the carpet was so old I didn’t want to walk on it in socks. The floor near the jacuzzi and shower was dirty, too. The room felt badly outdated for the price. I hope the owners put the extra money toward remodeling.
