Hampton Inn & Suites DuPont

We picked this hotel because it was close to the base. After a six hour flight from GA, we arrived at 2:50pm hoping to get in a little early. The front desk woman was very sweet, but said our room wouldn’t be ready until closer to 4pm, so we had to find something to do for about an hour with exhausted kids. We came back around 5pm and dropped our bags in the ready room. The bathroom was dirty. The kids were about to crash, so I figured we’d ask for it to be cleaned the next day while we were out. We had breakfast in the morning, which had lots of choices, so that part was good, but the breakfast lady was unfriendly and a bit rude when we asked something. When we returned that night, the room still hadn’t been cleaned despite our request. We had to shower at our family’s home and use the public bathrooms in the hall, which isn’t great when you’re paying for a room. The hallway rug was bunched up and I tripped on it too many times to count. The front desk guy was rude when we mentioned it, made fun of my husband’s military hoodie, and yelled at our seven year old for shaking his hands dry because there were no paper towels. The price was fine and breakfast was good, but staff manners and room cleanliness need work. We won’t choose this place next time. The experience wasn’t enjoyable.

The building was clean, the staff pleasant, and the customer service more than passable. I don’t really have other complaints, though I’m disappointed by the color choices in the rooms being renovated. Mustard yellow and green furniture with a bit of blue is one of the ugliest schemes I’ve seen.

It’s conveniently beside the base, with an Asian restaurant, Subway, and Starbucks nearby. But the hotel is run down, half the gym equipment doesn’t work, the pool was closed, and housekeeping was infrequent.

A good budget stay for families, in a nice area with food options within walking distance. The staff were friendly, rooms spacious and clean, and breakfast had a good range. The one thing I’d change is the pullout sofa mattress. It’s so uncomfortable you can feel every spring.
